Well,
It would seem that racing series are becoming, or, as ive not been here long, have been becoming more and more scarce for GT4. Which, is both odd and disapointing. Odd because a vast amount of us GTP'ers still run GT4 over GTP for whatever reason, normally we dont have the money for a PS3.
So, i was peeving around on GT4 the other day when i had a brain wave, so much of one that i had to stop and write it down.
Series arent happening enough. Myabe they need to appeal to other people within the GTP community. At that point my mind went to tuners, MFT, AMMT, RVV etc... what if there was a multicar series run with strict restrictions where the only advantage could be gained with tuning??? So I had the Gran Turismo Tuning Car Cup.
The basis of this series is touring cars. The only restrictions being that the cars must run S3 tyres for qualifying, so as it wont be a hell for leather on the limit lap, R2 tyres for the race... (touring cars use slicks). The weight of the car MUST be 1300kg and the horsepower cannont be more than 300. The rest of the car, gearbox, brakes, LSD and suspension are free to work on. This might seem a fairly simple concept, pick a car, tune it better than other people, race it. But, from some testing i have found out one major contributing factor. (explained in next paragraph)
If you were to but a brand spanking new volvo S40 and tune it to 299Hp and 1300kg, then set the rest up... its quick, but it cant be tuned much down to performance as it has 240Hp stock. Whereas, a 1990 primera tuned to 287Hp is just as if not quicker than the volvo, again at 1300kg. This is because the nissan starts with 150Hp and thereore is made up to 287 using alot more racing components than the volvo, making the car choice itself a major part of the strategy.
So... let me know what you think of this, and then based on interest over the next 7-14 days, i will work on getting a full set of rules, restictions and guidelines up.
Also note that although the season is aimed at tuners, anyone is welcome to try there hand at tuning... maybe even get noticed by a tuning company.
thanks for reading all of that.
Oscar.
