Looking around at other sub forum, i see lots of threads like "guess that car" and i had the idea of "guess that appliance".

So i'll start.

What is that?

It's a fairly easy question (especially as i have posted it as a link from a site)

If you think this thread is a good idea, have a go and tell me what you think!

It is an ok idea I guess, but it is located in the wrong place. I think it should be something like guess this piece of technology rather than guess the appliance because an appliance could even be something far from the topic of this forum, like a stove or refrigerator.

Is it a Phillip's DVD Player, or Projector?

It's a phillips set top box, as super jamie said. I chose that because it was the nearest thing to me on the desk at the time

A printer?
Not only that, it's a Dot Matrix Printer. You needed to have the special paper with the holes on the sides to catch in the gear and churn through.

hehe, I have a white Kitchen Aid mixer exactly like that at home. I don't have hte pasta maker or meat grinder attachement, or the Splash protector, but I do have 6 different mixer attachments for it.

Damned if I can remember the model number though. I can tell you that it has a flip up lock on the other side.

Close enough! It's an Artisan. Flip up top.

My parents sell KitchenAid at their store - mom brought in her's as 'living proof' of their durability. I knew the thing was old, but I didn't know how old until my fiance and I were going through pictures over the weekend and found one of mom using the mixer 4 years before I was born. The thing is THIRTY YEARS OLD. Runs great.

My grandfather had one that a 5 gallon mixer. It had lasted longer than two of his wives (cancer and divorce). After he died, I quietly told my grandmother I'd like to have that (I'm about the only cook in the family). She said sure, and then my mom got it. As a consolation prize, she bought me the one I have.

Then Mom decided Grandad's was too big for her kitchen and donated it to the local schools raffle. Sold it for 9 bucks. I didn't find out until 2 months after. That was 4 years ago, and I still haven't forgiven mum for it. ;)

This mean I have to post up an appliance?

If so, it'll have to wait one post. I've got to copy one of yours. ;)

Eh? Ok. Here's a post for you to copy.

A) I would use the Braining Rock on ole Mum.

B) I would do everything in my power to hunt down that mixer.

I tried for a few months, but noone seemed to have kept records of who bought what. It was awesome too. Had so many attachments to it. I think enough that you could have disposed of a body with it.

Anyways... I can't copy that post. I will copy another one thought :D

Here's the appliance:

Well, initially I was thinking it was some kind of custom jig saw. But the more I look at it the less that seems right. It actually looks like a puncher of some sort. By why it needs two handles, I don't know. And the way the motor is mounted you would think it was a drill. Is it sitting on a cradle or is that a permanent base?

That is some sort of an old reciprocating saw I do believe. Not sure of the brand however.

Is it a Makita Recip Saw?

Nope, it's a Hydraulic Hole Cutter. Made for stamping holes in steel beams.

The amount of pressure developed by it necessitates the two handles.

Anyone can have the next shot.

Looks like it does something with a hose. Water spins around and comes out the bottom grate? Some kind of weird watering device?

ATTWOOD WATERBUSTER!

It's actually the opposite of what I guessed in my previous post (:

Ok, next up.

And remember, it comes in various colors.

Mmmm, I think some women would be offended if it was refered to as a "milker" - perhaps breast pump would be more appropriate (:

And you are correct.
