Well my Grand Am (3.4) had its factory intake gaskets go bad around 100k miles. They're plastic. Replaced them with a metal set, and not 10k miles later I ended up with them being destroyed as well as the head gaskets, and I didn't drive that car very hard. Keep an eye on the coolant (it supposedly starts looking like peanut butter if you've got (oil?) leaking into it) and the oil level. My oil level actually rose, started getting splashed on the spark plugs, fouled them out, and had several cylinders misfiring, which was my only sign of a problem.

Note that my mechanic had never had to replace the metal replacement gaskets, out of hundreds of plastic ones he had replaced, so mine was a fluke after that I'm sure. The gaskets were like $200 for the metal ones, labor is the big part since a lot of the engine has to be taken apart.
