Did anybody else order the new campaign, or am I the only hardcore Guild Wars freak on GTP?

Check it out at http://www.guildwars.com

This one is going to be awesome. It's a lot more PvE based, unlike the 2nd game, Factions, which was PvP-heavy. It's the perfect game for GW noobs to get involved.

If you have this pre-ordered, or plan on playing, then, please, by all means, post up and discuss your feelings.

See you in Elona.

i was a die hard GW player, for about 3 months, but 2 weeks ago i dug out GT4. turns out i can only be addicted to one game at a time, so GW took a back seat.

I'll probably get nightfall in a couple of months when the release hype has calmed and some bugs are sorted. factions was a huge disappointment for me when i bought it last month, because i'm always PvE. also, Prophecies is the best by far when it comes down to it, it's a much more open map with loads of methods to make money. i hope nightfall is more like prophecies.

Nightfall is supposed to be extremely PvE, moreso than Prophecies.

I used to play GW until I started to play WoW.... There is just more to do in WoW. But GW is great, just feels a little limited.

No, it's not.

A MMORPG is classed as a persistant ingame universe. The only thing about GW that is massive is the town centers (which is basically a glorified chatroom for organising things). When you go out to PVE areas, the server spawns an entire region only for your party. When you are venturing, you don't meet other people exploring, it's just you and the enemy.

So now let's swap Guild wars with say, counterstrike. You go into chatrooms / or whatever you use to find games. You enter an area(server) where it is spawned for only your group. Going by your logic doesn't this make CS a mmorpg?

Oh, and huge areas =/= mmorpg either.

Guild Wars is classed under MMORPG.

And in Counter-Strike there is no chatroom. It's just a list of servers.

Guild Wars shares some features with massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG), however it was termed a CORPG by its developers to emphasise the differences in its approach to online role-play compared to many of its contemporaries.

As much as I don't trust wikipedia, here is some food for thought.

Actually, just google "guild wars corpg" and you'll find every single source saying that it is not an mmropg.

It's an Rpg that that happens to be online.
