Guilty pleasures...

Its image is so unappealing, its performance isn't anything special considering the other German offerings of its time, but for some reason unbeknown to many, this car's got an unmistakable aura. I always love seeing clean ones, even though design-wise, they're downright putrid. Maybe it is their embodiment of the Saab versatility ethos? Who knows...

They look downright ugly on pictures. But whenever you see one passing you on the streets, a clean one that is, there is something about the car that makes you think it's a very good looking car. I myself think it's Saab's biggest stunner ever to hit the production "office". Best combo for those old 900's are the yellow convertibles:

Absolutely beautiful in my book! 👍

There are quite a few cars here I wouldn't really say are "guilty" pleasures as such - I'm not sure what's really embarassing about liking a classic British or other European sports car, for example. Why should you feel guilty for liking vehicles that are at the very heart of the joy of driving?...

Nice choices on the Fiat 126 and Saab 900. I happen to love the way the 900 looks and I've heard stories about their engines going on for 400k miles and more with no problems, which is pretty impressive. They're easily as cool as E30 BMWs, even if they aren't as good to drive.

Who was it on this forum who owned one? I remember he posted a video of it at one point, and it sounded wonderful.

In my opinion BMW convertibles can't touch the league in which Saab convertibles find themselves in. We've owned a '95 Saab 900 SE, with 185 hp.

Ours was dark blue though. Mom fell in love with the aura the Saab seemed to carry around whenever you'd start up the engine. It still is a car she wants to own this day. We were forced to sell it as the import costs into Norway were far too high compared to the price we paid for it to buy it in Belgium. But anyway, you see lots of BMWs, but you rarely see a proper Saab convertible. If you see one, it's always a brand-new 9-3, but it is never a good old 900 turbo. When you see it though, it stands out from everything else which surrounds it 👍

1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V:

The last real Lincoln in my book. With a trunk big enough for bod..... I mean luggage, accompanied by a equally roomy interior, this is a car I would buy in a heartbeat if one came along for the right price. :)

I wholeheartedly agree on the old school 900s, especially the SPG version. They never photograph well, but in the flesh they have a presence that is very difficult to explain.

My real guilty pleasure has always been one of these. Coming from a past that included mostly Japanese cars wearing the H badge, it might seem a bit odd... But I love those things.

But black... with gunmetal C5 Z06 wheels.

My guilty pleasure car would have to be those Nissan S14 to S14.5 conversions. For the past weeks, I feel this guilty pleasure of wanting one because they just look so freakin bloody FANTASTIC! These S14.5 conversions I have been browsing around the net is pulling me away from working hard for a future R35, R36, or R37 GT-R. It is so tempting to buy an S14 when I browse around for used one on sites like autotrader.com because of the price. It is like 78K + possible market for a GTR versus 6K-12K for an S14 depending on the condition. I am not sure of the cost of a complete paintjob plus a front end conversion kit, but I at least got a good idea that it is way cheaper than 78K + mark ups.

I understand comparing a GTR with an S14 is comparing apples to oranges, but power isn't everything to me. I like to have some power to have fun with once in a while, but I mostly just cruise around to places. Gah, I can go on and on about this guilty feeling I am having. Here are some pics that are killing me.
