For allost a year now ive been saving up for a Gibson SG with no joy, but then i found this.
In ireland there all 800-1000 euros but i found this in the argos cataloue

But, 1 clue its not "real" is the red headstock, and another is that it is called a "Gibson GBME"

Its not bad for 300 i guess, I mean, you get a lot of stuff with it, And anythings better than my crap Encore Blaster.
But should i continue saving and get a real one or this one?
Im a complete noob at things like this, so any help would be appreciated!

Epiphone make good SGs, they're owned by Gibson. Check them out. :)
Or you could look at Pawn Shops, I found a black Les Paul Custom in one for like £500.

I second the Epiphone thing, my dad (a professional musician, he should know) plays an Epiphone Stratocaster that is made out of genuine Fender parts with 1/6th of the price. Those are quality guitars. 👍

First of all, you have to take into consideration how the thing sounds. If you like the way it sounds, go for it.
I know plenty of "cheap" guitars that sound as good or better than instruments costing up to 5 times as much.
I am a big fan of Gibson Guitars. Though I'm primarily an acoustic guy. However, I've played a load of Larivee's that have run $800-1000 that have sounded as good or better than $2000-$4000 Gibsons of similar dimension.
And further down the price scale, I've played a bunch of Seagull guitars that are half what the Larivees cost, and I'd not be ashamed to play the things anywhere.

I once found a Tele for about $250 that I still wish I'd found a way to buy. It sounded better than any of the Tele's I've played before or since.

I currently play an Alvarez that I paid less than $200 for. It was nearly 20 years old when I bought it and it's nearly 30 years old now and it still sounds awesome.

Yeah, I would love to be able to own a Hummingbird or a Gospel. But, I live in a world that will likely not ever see a $2000 guitar in my house.

Thats one of the reasons im buying it, it sounds so amazing, Granted, there are A lot of better sounding guitars out there but theres something about this one.
The reason i like it is very influenced by ac/dc, im a big fan and the power the have is amazing.
I mean, playing Ac/Dc on A Fender is like Brian Johnson singing highway to hell, Its still good, just very different.
Anyone understand what im saying?

If you wanna sound like Angus, you gotta play what he played...

Yea, i forgot to say that ive looked into Epiphones and Tanglewoods and here there still around 300-350 euro so theres not much difference but sometimes there dearer

what, you mean music wise or guitar wise?
Coz i (try) play Ac/Dc....
Angus Plays a Red Gibson SG.
I figure that something close to that will fit the bill.
And I don't know if anyone currently makes a knock-off of Malcom's Gretsch.

I just read on some reviews about the guitar and it's apparently a 'You get what you pay for thing'.

I was going to get it but im now looking at Epiphones.

I was in an AC/DC cover band back in the early '90s. (Not for very long) I had an early '60s Gibson SG, later stolen, and a Marshall JCM 900. They will make the EXACT sounds of Angus Young. What I did with that combo was so similar to Angus, it was down-right freaky.

Use the A channel, at high volume and about 70% overdrive, and that's it. No effects, no added anything. I bet you can pick up a JCM900 (w EL34s) for about $500-$600 on eBay. The SG, especially and old one, is going to cost you, though. But, the standard SG sounds good enough and ain't too expensive.

A friend of mine and i went to a guitar shop today, they had 30,000 euro worth of gibsons. I started weeping with joy lol. and he got to play A Gibson SG GT (2500 price tag, ouch!) In this huge Marshall amp! He said it was THE best day of his life.

A bit dramatic but i get what he meant lol
