Guitar amp into sound card

I did a search, but didn't find anything.

What I am trying to do is get the sound from my amp onto my computer through my sound card. I have this thing that converts the wire from a 3/4 jack to 1/4 jack, so that plugs into the headphone jack of my amp, then I took the 1/4 cable from my speaker and plug it into that, then from there, go into the line-in jack on the back of my sound card. After that I played a few riffs but nothin came up in my sound card software as reading anything from the line in.

Is there something that I am missing?

Thanks

Most sound cards have a input for sound. It should say INPUT or MIC INPUT next to it.

There are three inputs on the back, a green one, a red one and a blue one. I dont know off the top of my head but i know one is for speaker, one is for headphone and one is for line in or mic.

One is microphone, one is line in, one is line out.

It's hard to understand exactly what you did here, so let me try to get this straight. You went from a 1/4" speaker out cable, into a simple 1/8" adapter, then into a mic input? Wow. I'm surprised you're not dead. Because if my son did that, I would kill him.

My pc has red (mic), blue (audio in) and the yellow (headphone) inputs.

If you want to get the sound of your amp, buy a power soak. THD makes a nice one. But, this only works for tube amps. If you want to get the sound of your amp, buy a mic and use the mic input on your PC. That's what it's for. Or, go direct into your PC from your guitar, and use a amp simulator program.

Thanks, any idea where I could find this amp simulator program?
