Guitar Hero is Coming Back

So will we have to throw out our old peripherals and buy new ones? My biggest gripe I've always had with guitar hero and rock band is that they just keep making more peripherals when people already have their old ones...

If they made peripherals to follow every other title, they probably would lose less money...

My humble opinion:

Activision needs to put aside its greed. Like, seriously. They need to stop making releases every year, release a final GH, revamp the store and never come with a disk release anymore.

They have a few options, but I dare not say which one could be succesful. They could release a "stream to play" service where you pay per song you play (a one time fee per song) or have a monthly fee and be able to play all the songs in the library.

They could also continue with the current store model (where you download the song) but one thing is for sure in my mind: They need to stop the yearly releases and step it up with the store, the RB one is way better and sees a lot of releases every week. No more changes to the peripherals or gameplay, just sweet rockin'.

Sincerely,

A GH fan, living-room-rocker extraordinaire,

~Coxis.

Personally I think something like that would lose people.

What would you suggest? Or maybe ellaborate on your opinion?

From what I've been able to observe, fans are a little bit spiteful due to having to buy a new software disk at full retail price every year. They think the series isn't moving forward and Activision is just milking them for their money every year. Myself? I think it sucks having to switch disks on my PS3 because I want to play a song that's not on the disk currently on my system. I also hate that certain features may be available on GH:WoR but not on GH:SH, especially on band play. So switching back to an older GH to play a few songs can be a little bit confusing when a few certain features are missing.

Or, alternatively you could save all the money you would've spent on on the game + controller and buy a real guitar and be a real guitar hero. :)

Then you could get this whenever it comes out and point and laugh at Activision and their moneygrabbing sales advisors.

Unless they plan on revamping Guitar Hero to something like this, then this wins IMO. Unless the game itself is poor, and the name Guitar Hero is enough to pull in the public (again).

Not everyone wants to really play guitar. I like playing pretend and just rip out the chords on my plastic guitar, while it would be cool, I'm not interested in playing guitar. I can assure you I'm not alone.

Although there's no denying that Rocksmith's concept is superb and I would certainly try it out if I had a guitar at home.

Do like Rock Band and release weekly DLC, not 2 packs in 3 months and push out a new disc a month later.

Honestly, if they just did a giant DLC pack or released a LOT of songs in one disc instead of releasing multiple titles, this goes for Rock Band as well, I'd definitely keep playing... Having so many discs to go through is a hassle...
