The expert + difficulty looks insane.
I pre-orderd it mainly for the 2nd bass pedal

If you downloaded the "Death Magnetic" album for Xbox and PS3, those ten songs will play in their entirety in the full game mode. PS2 and Wii versions (coming in the Spring, most likely in early May) will include "Broken Beat & Scarred," "Cyanide" and "My Apocalypse" since they are not compatible with the Death Magnetic downloadable content.

I just watched this gameplay video and was wondering if that is 2 drummers on the screen at the same time? I see the horizontal lines going across on for 2 different people. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/46121.html

I don't think that's 2 drummers, I am pretty sure it's the base guitarist, only strumming without pressing any fret buttons..

that song featured EASILY Kirk's best ever solo!!!!

To me, Damage is metallica's most underrated song and my favorite song off of "Master Of Puppets".

How in the fact that they could leave that off is BEYOND me.

I realized that after I made the thread on Friday but forgot to edit it.
I pre-ordered this game on Friday. At this point it looks like it will be the first game I buy in 2009. 👍
 
I simply cannot wait for this game to come out. I'm so addicted to the Guitar Hero series it's not funny! I'm still not very good but when I first started playing a couple of months ago it I never thought I'd be able to use the fifth orange button, yesterday I finished career on Hard on GH2 and Aerosmith and one gig away from finishing it on Hard on GH3 which is a real acheivement in my mind. I think 100%-ing the songs on Hard is a different matter altogether let alone on Expert. Still, practice makes perfect eh?! Awesome game(s)!

If you like the GH series you should check out RB2 for sure. It even has over 500+ songs since it lets you use all the RB1 songs.

Yes, I'd love to but there RB/RB2 doesn't work on Hong Kong Xbox 360s. Do they not want to make money?!?
 
I preordered for the pedal too but i cant beat too many songs in GH:WT on expert on drums. I did manage to pass Scream Aim Fire expert, my favorite song on drums.
 
That sux, no demo for ps3 and i dont have a guitar controller for Xbox360. Hmm, im no longer concerned for double bass after watching the vids lol.

Yeah I tried to beat Seek and Destroy on expert and only made it 50% on guitar. Sure was a lot of fun to try.

I cant wait to get this game. :dopey:

Me too! In fact this whole series has been fantastic and has even kept me off Fallout 3 for a month or so. I haven't had so much fun since the original Beatmania series on PS2!
 
This is easily one of the best GH games ever made. You can even unlock their real life tour videos which are very fun and rewarding to watch.
The only problem is that the GH bass pedal does not work with the RB drumset. So I did not have a chance to play the double bass yet. I will have to sell this one and buy a RB pedal.
The other problem that surprised me was that there is no world tour online. Oh well the rest of the game is very good.

Dude I agree. Its easily what World Tour should have been in most areas. I love the game, its far more the a $60 track pack for the doubters.

I played until I failed Sanitarium but that song is awesome. Many of the songs are awesome except Turn The Page, omg what an ordeal. not hard just painful. Im positive if it were in RB it'd be less strenuous.

Have not tried drums with double bass yet. I like how you can listen to the songs and watch a virtual performance complete with gestures that go with the lyrics. The animation is scary good too.
 
Yeah the animation in this game is almost as good as the RB series. Almost. They are much more alive in this game than any other GH game.

Now for some great news. I found out the PS2 RB pedal will work with RB on the xbox360. So I just listed my GH foot pedal on e-bay and I will be trying out the double bass hopefully tonight using the PS2 pedal.
 
Humph! The distributers here haven't got them to the shops yet so I need to wait until the weekend. Grrr...
 
I used a PS2 pedal last night next to my 360 pedal and it worked perfect. I am not very good with it but it sure was fun to try. I went into practice mode (so I could not fail) and attempted to play Dyers Eve to check out the double bass on expert +. Holy crap I thought my legs were going to fall off. I ended up with a 33% but it sure was fun. :lol:
Also someone did the buy it now on e-bay last night for the GH pedal. I sold it for $21.99. :sly:

Thats why I only try it in the practice mode. There is no way I will every be able to even attempt most of these songs on expert+.
The only couple ways to do it without failing are in practice and Face off battles online.

BTW, since you've used the double pedal - does it work practically? As in, can you hit notes with one pedal if the other is pressed down?

I ask because i have a more realistic drum pedal for RB that i bought at Best Buy that comes with a built-in "headphone" jack to plug in the original RB pedal (or another of their pedals) and play double bass that way. But when you have one pedal pressed down, the other will not register.

No that is the one problem with the double bass. It is not realistic. You can only have 1 pedal hit at a time where in real life you can let one foot rest down and then hit with the other pedal whenever you want. So it doesnt really feel like real double bass at all. I just keep my left foot off next to the pedal and when the long double bass notes come I bring my left foot into the action.
