Anyone ever had this done? I know it would change the guitars tone considerable but I'm not too worried about that.

How much would it cost in general? I could probably get it done dirt cheap from a few guys I know but I'm not 100%. I'd have to ask.

Reason I ask is that during play my wrist and part of my palm get sore and hurt a bit. Doesn't happen after play. I know it's the neck because this doesn't happen on my other guitars with skinnier necks. Having small hands is part of the issue. I don't really want carpal tunnel either. I've been playing many years now so it's not like I'm a beginner. I started around 2006-2007.

I'm almost worried it's not worth getting done though. The guitar it happens on needs a lot of electrical work and it's generally pretty beat up. I like playing on it because it's small and light and easy to haul around so I was wondering if it would be worth getting, especially if I can get it done cheaply.

Any insight?
 
Do you mean taking the neck from some thing like a D shape to a C or a V shape? I think you can change the overall shape, but done fret boards are slightly wider than others, and theres not much to do about that. Not really sure it'll change your tone too much.

That bring said I wouldn't try out on my own, I world take out to a shop. You don't want to remove neck strenght for comfort. Some guitars, like SGs have known breaking point in the neck (in this case it's up near the head stock.)

Yes this is what I'm talking about. And slimming it down a bit. I agree about the strength issue seeing as this neck in particular does not have a truss rod.
