Gumball 3000! pics and video

Alright folks, most of u will know or heard of the Gumball3000 Rally!

starts in: Paris -----> Biarritz -----> Madrid -----> Marabella -----> Marrakech -----> Barcelona -----> and finally onto cannes

Martin Hadland of Team Reyland has takin his MENTAL Escort cosworth along with "porkie" off passionford with a freshley built engine!
the escort managed a 169mph run as a bit of a "leg stretcher" on their way over!

they arrived at the hotel with thousands of people watching the cars coming in on the 4th

martin can't resist and decides to do a 8k rpm launch infront of the crowd....the car launched and a few seconds later so did the gearbox!!
so yep, martin broke the new quife gearbox before the gumball even started!! doh!!
Lukily Sean bicknel was about 1 hour away from paris with the spare gearbox he will be following martin to help if they need assistance etc, seems to be beating them to the checkpoints tho in his hired people carrier (summit to do with navigation systems etc and he'll be able to leave earlier from previous checkpoints)
at the briefing martoon got a round of applause for breaking his gearbox and already has a bit of a rep as a nutter lol

Official gumball started yesterday at 6pm with the escorts new box fitted and all going well!

this post will prob seem all over the place as its kinda hard to put all the info from about 4 different sites into one, Renton of Redline is also at gumball with his wife (sona) on their honeymoon (must be a top bird!!) he's in a skyline, not sure if its his or redlines buts its luuuvvelly!!

update today so far:
both the escort+skyline are running fine with no more problems.

looks like they drove through the night

sona did 168mph in the skyline and drove the escort during the morning so martin could get some sleep in the skyline

martin is back in the drivers seat of the escort now. about 10 mins ago him and a yellow ferrari enzo side by side. they both go for it. martin hit 178mph before he had to brake for a truck. they reckon 200mph+ is definatley on the cards for the escort he has just spotted a murcialago(sp) he wants to go and have a play with . porkie said everyone is well friendly and up for a race!

and now for the 'unofficial' gumabller....sean b he is actually getting to the checkpoints before the escort & skyline lol. i think the satnav is fooked in both escort & skyline so shonky is just sitting aT 122 mph which is the max speed of his rental car using his AA atlas of europe!! he said at the moment he is about 25 miles infront of the others,

the escort is loving the long drive/races..porkie said the engine is pulling well strong..THEY ARE CONSIDERING TURNING IT UP TO FULL BOOST TOMORROW

they just met the guy with the yellow ferrari enzo and he can't believe the escort beat him. he asked if the escort was running NOS (which it's not btw)

Update from Ish on passionford (he's giving us the info straight from the horses mouth)
both car still running perfect.

the escort has one 'slight' problem though....it only does 150 miles to a full tank so is having make plenty of fuel stops

when he raced the enzo he was slightly pulling away from it before having to brake.

they have got on video a race between martin and a lambo murcialago (how do u fooking spell that lol)

RESULT=MARTIN ABSOLUTLEY DESTROYED THE LAMBO

there is too much traffic to have a 'proper' high speed run yet though
i'll try n find out martins engine power, but by sounds of it, its BIG BHP

on the downside they arrived 4 hours late for first checkpoint and 7 hours late for this one. they are running on reyland time not gumball time and are enjoying the route/drive on the way. they know they got no chance of competing with the leaders due to the amount of fuel stops! they just enjoying the whole gumball experience the lucky fookers

Team 132 now reports that the King of Marocco have given orders to the police that the Gumballers can go as fast as they want, without beeing "disturbed". Team 132 reports live from the spooky side of 200kph, now hitting speeds of above 260kph as the police is just waving to them! Many of the faster cars are hitting speeds of above 300kph "A quite surreal experience" Team 132 reports. More to follow

i have also read on a forum that after getting beat the the reyland esc cossy the enzo owner has went in to a ferrari dealership/garage for a tune up lucky he did cause since then the cossys now on full boost

sad news the reyland escort cos has fliped and been destroyed in morrocco both driviers needed first aid but had no serious injurys inside the car was basicly a rally car the roll cage did its job and kept both drivers safe

BREAKING NEWS: Team 132 just reported a new accident just minutes ago. The car involved is a rally-rigged Ford Cosworth who flipped over 100m ahead of Team 132. Both drivers are injured, with one in need of first aid. Luckily, both drivers should be fine! The Cosworth is reported total wreckage. We will be back with more information as soon as possible.

porkie the other driver in the cos needed over 100 stiches but both are on their way back to the UK. the escort is being recovered and shiped back as well end of a legend. martin is said to be gutted by ppl on the PF forums and friends that have spoken to him but. cars can be rebuilt lifes cant.

Report from Team 132, (GMT 13.53)

Team 132 has just had their license confiscated for no reason, along with about 15 other cars. The cars are being escorted to the police station where documents allegedly will be checked. Other Gumballers are allowed to pass, and no explanation is given by the Spanish police!

lee (the other guy in the reyland escort cos) was still in hospital from other reports i though he has got out. but he was still in a moroccan hospital recovering. hes now been told this

There was a white Gamballa Porsche Cayanne being driven by the prince of Saudi Arabia. Evidently he actually called Dan and said he had a private Jet waiting at the airport in Marakesh to fly Lee out of the country if required. HOW ****ING COOL IS THAT!!!!!!!
