STFU Theresa, you insensitive bast*rd. This is a thread about a guy dying and all you can do is to throw a weak insult at Jpec.

Change your sig too. It's too long.

A girl fell out of a rollercoaster ride in Wales a few weeks ago - injuring a young boy she hit on the way past to her death.

The mother of the boy appeared on GMTV the next morning, complaining that the girl had injured her son.

How on earth can you fall off a roller coaster? :odd: The safety workers checks and double checks to make sure everyone is properly strapped or held in before the ride even starts! I'd file a lawsuit towards the park, If I was this man's family.

I've been on that very ride before and I'll go on it again.

One death out of the millions of riders is a remarkable record. It's sad to see someone die as a result of a roller-coaster, but it won't keep me from going on one again.

They won't ban him unless he specifically breaks one of the rules. You can't really be banned for acting like an idiot. In any case, isn't the Superman roller coaster strictly up and down?

It wouldn't hurt.

You're preaching the choir, man. Give Klos or Doug some mod power, they'd clean things up.

Thats just plain awful, its not like the girl jumped out of the roller coaster to injure the kid on purpose while she fell to her death. Some people are so insensitive. Sadly I doubt that woman felt bad for the girl that died.

As for the superman ride I have no clue as to what it is? But is seems to me that there was a seat latch failure during the ride. No ammount of check and double check can prevent a failure during a ride. There could have been metal fatigue at the hinges..ect theres a number of things that can go wrong but rarely do. 1 out of millions is a record that noone should worry about unless it becomes 2,3,6,10,..ect. It suckes for the man that died but at least he lived for 55 years.

That should be put into the rules. Using the excuse of being an idiot to annoy members should not be allowed.

I think you guys overreact over Tercel_driver's behaviour in this thread. But I don't know about the past and how he maybe ****ed up majorly with the people on GTP or something, so I keep my mouth shut.

Anyways, as for the topic: I think, it's sad, that it happened, but since I don't know anything about the guy, who fell out of the rollercoaster, so it's hard for me to feel sorry for him and his family. But I feel sorry for you being banned from rollercoasters.

I suggest you to not talk about the rollercoasters for a week, or two. Your mom will forget about it for sure.

PS. Are you so young, that your mother can ban you from rollercoasters? o_O

I haven't seen thsi rollercoaster so I don't know what its like but the majority of roller-coasters (even the ones that go upside-down) would be safe without those over the shoulder, jacket-type harnesses. They're really for piece of mind and to stop retards from standing up and stuff.

About two or three years ago, a mentally retarded person fell out of Drop Zone (pictured below) at Great America. Believe me, the operators were bent on making sure we were securely seated. I have no idea how this guy squirmed out of his seat. No amount of checks and double checks would have stopped this guy from falling 225 feet, through a safety net, and into the ground.

Wow ... that's pretty crazy.

That's what the nice me says. The evil me says ...

Did she / he bounce? I heard people bounce when they fall from that high.

I rode the Superman Ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain and I'm having a hard time understanding how it could've happened. I think they said it happened at "the end" of the ride. This part of the ride is level. You go straight, then up, then back down. He must've been screwing around or something. In any case it is very sad and makes me a little wary of rides. I mean, that's the kick, right? Fear of death?

Mate of mine who was a cop saw a guy jump out of a fifteenth floor window - reckoned he bounced about 6-7 feet in the air after hitting.

Eeek! This is all spooky.....maybe this is why im not allowed to ride rollercoasters....but then again the only person that takes me to an amusement park is my grandma ands she dosnt believe in rollercoasters....so im outta luck

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. However, I don't believe humans bounce when they hit water. I think it's more of a splatter effect.

Remaining somewhat on-topic, I've found that I don't enjoy rollercoasters as much anymore. Not that I dislike them, but they're not high on my list for entertainment. And it may not be the coaster itself, but the whole theme park experience. Waiting in line 30 minutes for a 2 - 3 minute ride is rediculous. The Mr Freeze ride that is partnered with the Superman ride in the story above lasts less than a full minute. The two occations I had to ride it (St Louis and Dallas) I timed the coasters while waiting in line (there were plenty of opportunites ... the line was over an hour long), it averaged 54 seconds from launch to complete stop. Now granted nearly the entire 54 seconds were exhilarating, unlike most coasters where once you're on the ride you wait 10 or 20 seconds as the train is drug to the top of a hill, but that doesn't excuse a 1s:67s fun:bad ratio. After my group rode Freeze in Dallas we went to whatever the double loop ride is (Corkscrew or something) which was 25 years old the same month as my birthday of 25 and waited less than 15 minutes for a 3 minute ride, which I felt was better quality as well. That's 1s:5s fun:bad ratio. 13 times the fun! And the coaster is tried and true (:

Just spend the extra 10 bucks and get one of those speed passes if you go to Six Flags. I never spent more than 5 minutes in a line with one of those.

I've only been to a couple of those types of parks up on Queensland's Gold Coast. I quite deliberately went on a Tuesday, not during school holidays. No lines - fantastic.

I went to Dreamworld (Queensland) on a Wednesday, same as Vat_Man, no lines or anything. 2) Went on the same rollercoaster over and over until I had a headache. Ate lunch and repeated step 2.

As insensitive as some people are in this thread, nothing is as insensitive as THAT.

And for the record my sister has been on an almost identical ride elsewhere and didn't have a clue how it could've happened.

I've seen it happen. He probably slouched, and slid below the safety bar. That is what the lady, I saw fall out, did.
