I'm new to programming, and I decided to start so I could eventually make my own video games and such. I was recommended GW Basic and thought I'd try it. My question is this: for someone who has a fair knowledge of MS DOS but nothing else and wants to program video games, is GW Basic a good way to start? If so, what's the best way to learn it, and if not, what is a good starter program?

:-)

I've never heard of GW Basic. It seems like an old, out dated programming language. If you have access to classestought by professional's, Go with C++. If not, start small... GML or maybe just learn basic basic programming to get used to it. Such as HTML, Java, JS, Ajax...

(Old, Outdated post, but This could help anyone.
