I searched this topic and couldn't find anything similar to my question....

I recently saw an episode of fifth gear showing one of the hosts teach an airforce pilot how to drive. In this episode they do a circle excercise where you get the car into an oversteer and go around a circle. The circle they went around is the same one on the Gymkhana course in the Driving park...Has Anyone done an oversteer drift...as in 2 full circles... inbetween the lines of that circle on the gym?

I have tried and gotten a ford gt stock form to do one kinda oversteered circle...but I don't think it was good enough to call it a sucessful attempt....

yep i have done it!!!!! using a subaru impreza spec c. I will post my settings later tonight. Its very hard though and i doubt i could do it in most of my other cars, its just that my subaru loves being sideways and wheelspins in 4th gear so no change of gaining traction!!

The understeer bites annoyingly in low speed situations like this.

Between the lack of Replay in the Gymkhana, and the inability to do the circle as you should, I haven't gone to that course in months.

ive done circles in the gymkhana course, but havent tried to go between the 2 circles. ill try that when i get home.

I think my best is one time around with my personal drift settings on the Autozam AZ-1.
I haven't tried my RX-7 RSR yet, I have a feeling that could get close.....

Oh can we use FF cars? :trouble: My idea might work, or fail......(dramatic evil background music)

If I do it I'll post a short vid (yes I know there is no replay, I'll just tape while playing)

Yep, I've done it... Both inside and outside the circle... I use the Gym to test settings (amongst other tracks)... The last time I tried, I was able to get my Prowler around the circle 4 times... Fun times... Sometimes I forget I'm testing settings and lose track of time... Why PD chose to not include replays is beyond me though...

;)

you guys can still record it though?

It would be nice to see a short vid of a few laps 👍

Any dfp users? I find it extremely hard to keep it one long progressive slide in between teh cones.....and what gear are u ppl usin?

the game doesnt allow for donuts, much less any realistic drifting in a circle.. it'll gain traction & then lose it promtly making it more of an oval.. and not sideways.. i dont think its possible on in the game..

I cant use my DFP to do this, but i can with my trusty old Duel Shock 2, im using 2nd or 3rd gear in my Subaru Spec C. I will post my settings when i get home.

Well apparently people HAVE done it and I did it too.
1 and a half circles in a that new BMW convertible, how is it called?

It is very possible... Quite a few people have done it...

I only count oversteered within the cones as successfull attempt....u ds2 users are u in oversteer the entire time or do u correct and refling?.....I bet it is possible just uber hard with dfp....

I think I just did it with a nismo r32. I was countersteering the whole time but at variouse degrees (wasnt a constant contersteer). I think the trick is to use an AWD car. Its just a hypothesis, but due to the lack of forward momentum when the wheels are spinning in GT4, its easier to have front wheels pulling you around while the back wheels are spinning.

i forgot the gymkhana was even there, very fun to test out driftability for cars on a basic level.

i just completed a few revultions around the circle in the "Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STi '02" , that car i created is something else though, a monster if you will. ill deliver the settings to anyone who wants em, im not gonna post em because one of the forum police will come and 8 people will flag me for the wrong forum. so pm me and ill send em on over, its an AMAZING drift car. i was woundersteering the whole time with decent angle, but im not sure what you mean by 'full oversteer'.

Any Beemer will do it with some practice. My 300zx will do it if you can keep the momentum going.

That shows the main affect of the physics flaw in this game. When a real car has wheelspin it still has forward acceleration and is easy to keep sidways even at 1mph. :dunce:

I got it in my Toyota X- Runner one time around. But then it wiped because I had the tires all the way at the end so it just want WOOSH!!!! it was fun though. Its super hard to do! TOok me like 2hrs just to get it down. In GT3 Me and my bro can do it like *snaps* that!

I believe I had a video where we where drifting around each other like in D1

Cool. Cuz I heard there's some minor difference between the US version and other version, just want to see if this one of them.

ive got the us version also.
correct me if im wrong, but i believe DKing asked if you could do it inna stock car.
tomorrow night hopefully ill be home and free to use my dfp. w00t.
