So, here's a question.

I was looking at the hacker thread and saw pics of them scaling tires. If we can make custom wings, why can't we do custom rim and tire combos? One thing I really hate about my old school skylines is that they have those skinny tire. It can't be that hard to add it in if the functionality it already there.

C'mon, ADD THIS!

Remember that graphic they showed before the game was released, that showed wheel options from the side and then from face on to the tread? It showed different wheel/tire widths and I think most of us assumed that would be a part of the game. Do you have a link to this hacker thread?

IIRC that was simply using the grip multiplier to increase traction for better launch.

I'm sure it was, but I don't care about the grip shown in the video. What I'm after is the tire scaling. I'm just saying that adding more width should give you a 1 PP bump in grip just like the custom wings do.

I'm not sure PD programmed it that way but a hacker would know better. I always thought the tires were just a visual representation but the real level of grip came from the grip multiplier. In other words you could have a tire 6 inches wide or 12 inches wide visually, but the grip multiplier is what made the actual level of grip.

Tire width affects grip quite lot and so PP goes higher, so it's programmed.

But anyway it would be cool to do those things without modding.

In either case, both features exist. The only thing missing is a 2 man/day's worth of interface work. The bigger job is going through the cars and deciding which cars will be allowed to have tires scaled and which would not.

If it were me, I would disallow it on all the race cars with the exception of the rally cars. Still, that isn't any more that a couple of man/days of grunt work for an intern.

Damn I remember wrong, it doesnt affect PP or grip.
So its only visual so why not add it to game, some visual mods don't do any harm.

You should alter your post above to reflect your newfound wisdom:lol:. I didn't think it affected PP but wasn't sure.
