Here's my situation last night;

I had been racing about an hour on this excellent pro's server last night, all the drivers were exceptionally great racers, as well as clean. We all had respect for each other on the track and in chat.

We raced different classes 3-4 drivers in each class, like the GT-One vs Minolta vs 787B, then 3-4 drivers racing Super GT, ect.

Racing on the Nur, I was in my Toyota GT-One battling a Sauber C9 on the famous strait before the finish line, but now here's when things get odd.

Drag racing the Sauber C9, we were both passed up by a Mercades DTM CLK (the German Touring Car). That's when the "WTF" face happened to me and very likely other driver I was racing. I don't mean he was slipstreaming me and the C9 to take a short overtake, the guy was racing so fast that, even when I managed to slipstream behind the CLK, I couldn't catch nor gain on him. At the time I was passed, I was doing roughly 245-250mph.

Does anyone else know if this is already an issue?

I raced a guy quite a while back who had a Corvette RM that would beat any of my Le Mans cars on Special Stage 7, he beat my Formula GT too.

It's possible that he was using some sort of hack, as i wasnt aware that the Clk-Dtm could slipstream to 250+, even with max power.

Are you positive it wasnt a clk-Gtr?

I'm sure it was the DTM version. The CLK-GTR isn't butt ugly like the DTM.

Wished you'd of saved the replay of It, That would of been an interesting watch.

The DTM is fast on the 'Ring because it has good handling but there's no way it could reach 240-250 mph unless its transmisssion settings were changed

True..:D

In that case, methinks hacks have finally started getting around Gt5. If you'll excuse me, i'm gonna hybrid a 4wd elise with 700 horses:tup::sly:

even with the downforce setting to the minimum, extra added power bought in the tune-shop, transmission set up perfectly; even with the suspension optimized for the long staright, i dont think its possible to hit over 260mph in the DTM-Merc. Even with a perfect drafting scenario.

The problem with you guys is that you "think", and because of that you accuse him of hacking. Maybe he smokey you like a 🤬 nt....because he had a good setup.

I streamlined the DTM-CLK on my GT-One, getting to about 270mph before losing him. Yeah, he's not hacking/glitching. :grumpy:

well i dont race online alot i usually only have 30minutes to play at a time. so i didnt get smoked. but on the ring you need a good handling set up. its not daytona or Indy or even the giant top speed Test track in GT4. That player smoked them on the long straight. it's still suspicious im my opinion.

Hmm. This reminds me of one time on nurburgring racing in my 8C. I was just humming along in 3rd place (the GT-R's checked out. Darn you 4WD!) and then all of a sudden a black Tacoma comes right up on me and ends up passing me. He runs a low 7:teens in a TACOMA. I guess its feasible, but i was highly skeptical.

Then can someone confirm this? I really doubt a 550hp car can do 270mph with the boost ...

Yea I think i seen it happen with the Boost set to High
but it was slower cars like a tacoma over taking a f1
it was a corvette overtaking my nissan r92cp

Still don't get the point of Boost...

'The Ultimate Arcade Simulator'..?

What's weird and illogical (not that any of that is unusual in GT5!) is that boost is the VERY thing we need the AI to do to make for a competitive offline race, but no...! PD use it on humans instead, the LAST thing that needs it!

Sometimes I get the feeling that the kanji for Approve and Deny got switched in PD's computer system, and all the features he MEANT to approve got denied, and vice versa!

If there's boost on the room you can see it before joining. If you dont like boost dont join room with boost set. I always check and never had any problem.

I try to avoid rooms with boost settings in order to get a better race. With boost you can hang round behind the leaders, then on certain tracks (like the back straight on the Nurb) use the boost to get an overwhelming advantage just before the end. Basically the same tactic as the one for avoiding Blue shells in Mario Kart!

Not sure if this was a hack or not but racing online every race this guy seemed to get a few seconds advantage at the start. I thought he was just getting good starts but when the other people left the room I found he was driving off a long time before START appeared on my TV. The Jump Starting feature wasn't turned on either.

It's lag and poor internet connections that cause this, usually with the host benefitting from it. If there is a black screen before the race starts chances are this is happenning.

I was in a room like this where a couple of people were complaining, then the host left and I was made host and it continued to happen for two more races where I had completed a full lap before anyone else was actually racing. The other people will appear on the track but only be moving at pre-race speed.

Thats exactly what happened. So it's not a hack. Good.

If there were boost setting present on the server, then it would mean the Super GT/Touring Cars 2-3 minutes back would of been A LOT closer to me and the C9. That is unless the boost setting can be applied to one car.

Never the less, I doubt the server I was racing in had the boost while all other assists were turned off. A "Pro Racers Server" with high boost? Pfft..

Well like someone has said before - a saved replay would prove invaluable. It shocked you enough that you came online to post about it but you didn't think to save the replay? 💡

Without that there can be only speculation. Assuming you're telling the truth, someone who has played as much as you would not mistake the car type/circumstances etc. It's possible it might have been a network related hiccup, and I presume it was not a multi-lap race and you weren't comming around to lap the guy :sly: But for a network spike to misplace a car's velocity/positioning to the extent of the length of the straight seems implausible.

As for the boost theory - that doesn't add up. One car would not be affected to that degree in particular even on high setting (especially on a middle-pack car). If it did work that way then the GT ONE would have sling-shot the CLK again afterwoods.

You know the guy's PSN? Maybe you could try adding him and joining a few of his races to see if it happens again lol

But really to make such a claim without any evidence is asking a lot from people :P Of course hacks are possible in any game but it's a loose claim for the first one in GT5

"Sounds like someone is a sore loser."

What a useless comment :yuck:
