Porsche and VW were both started by the same guy, Ferdinand Porsche, he designed the origina VW Beetle under Hitlers orders and then moved on the Porsche, the original 911 has quite alot of similarities to the Beetle.

ford does not own mazda the two companys conspire to help each other out various production models b-3000 by ford and the probe by mazda the two have done so for several years

Ford owns 33.3% of Mazda. This makes Ford the majority shareholder, so in effect, they own Mazda. Only in effect though.

Deja vu...

And you've just been told that VW owns Lamborghini... And seeing as "Dodge" and "Chrysler" are the same thing...

The funny thing is...people say "hey they own them" but....infact neither the parent company has anything to do with the good cars the purchased company makes...or vice versa.

I don't know... Climb inside an Aston Martin Vanquish and marvel at the electric window switches they've nicked from the Ford Mondeo...

There is also a close relationship between Toyota and GM. The Geo Prizm and Toyota Corolla were the same car (both built by Toyota with GM rebadging them for Geo then Chevrolet) and the new Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe are the same car as well (again Toyota builds them and GM rebadges for Pontiac). Neither owns the other but they do work closely.

Honda and Isuzu had a similar relationship with the Honda Passport/Isuzu Rodeo. Mazda and Ford both had versions of the Probe (the Mazda was the MX-6) as well as the Explorer (Mazda was named Navajo) and Ranger (Mazda -B2000).

There are tons of examples where auto companies share or buy parts, accessories, or whole cars from each other.

Some of those in that big list I knwo to be...uh...wrong...possibly..

...however I am totaly sure about ford (more or less) owning Mazda. The RX8 was desigend by Mazda, but Ford was not going to allow production of it at first. However, Mazda bolted on those suicide doors, Ford went "Ooooo...cooooool..." and then mMazda was allowed to make it.... Sad how th rotary legacy was revived not by the engine, but some crappy doors that open the wrong way...

Mitsubishi 3000 GT= Dodge Stealth

Chevy Cavalier has some counterpart in Japan, but I forget what it's caled and who makes it

There have been hundreds of collaberations between auto makers.

Now THAT'S some f'd up stuff.

Well, normally you'd think so, but Renault's involvement's been a fantastic thing for Nissan - the turn around from a financial point of view has been nothing short of astonishing.

Didn't anyone mention that BMW owns Mini? Thats really all you need to know..BMW owns Mini. And Mini owns everything..

it says on the OFFICIAL GT3 site
it seems it hasnt been updated since before the game was released

if you dont believe GO THERE . look at the cars section and MARVEL at the error!

Its not a real mini though is it??

Its just some money making scam from BMW!

They should call it the 1 series! Its about the size of a transit van and have you ever tryed sitting in the back of one?

I have a brilliant question. Who cares? Oh no, an error. To err is human. Now go err in the middle of heavy traffic.

Oh good heavens.

So that makes the Shelby Cobra a Ford, the McLaren F1 a BMW and the DeLorean a Renault?

For pity's sakes, when replying to a post read all of the replies already posted - the "information" you posted has already been covered.

As an aside, I'd quite like to see some other "rhyming" manufacturer/model names.

Ford Bored.
Audi Howdy.
Dodge Hodgepodge.
Bugatti Fatty.

GM is 'business partners' with Fuji Heavy Machinery (Subaru), not Toyota.

Chrysler Corp. owns 38% of Mitsubishi, and most Chrysler cars have tons of Mitsubishi parts, especially Late 80's ones. (Dodge Colt= Mitsubishi Mirage, for example.)

And General Motors own Holden...and Vauxhall...and Opel. Right?

Zonda is made by Pagani, Pagani is an independant company owned by 1 man, not Mercedes, the Engine is a Mecedes AMG tuned V12 which doesn't mean the car is a Mercedes, if thats the case some TVR's were Rovers as were some Caterhams and a Lotus or two.
