Hey again all. Ive been practicing and almost ready to release my first noob drift video. However I had quick technique/line question.

I was drifting on Cote D'Azure and came across something Im not used too. Lots and lots og 180 degree hairpins, on a road that is very very narrow. The narrow roads make it hard to get far outside to take a late apex like I normal do on hairpins. So far the only thing I have been able to get to slightly work is to slow down alot, I mean like 25-35mph which barely enough to carry the drift.

Is slowing way down the best idea for these kinds of hairpins. The line im taking is getting as far outside as I can get and try to be sideways before the turn begins to turn, that way im 90 degrees at the center of the turn.

If someone has a better technique to do these hairpins I would like to know.

Thank you Very Much All,

Angelus

What he said. Take a page from rallying. I don't believe a real drift is possible on those turns, but at least rotating the ass can help maintain a decent line.

I don't see what that has to do with anything. It's not like it's a problem driving a traditional grip line with sim tires, or sliding around it on T8's.

I only e-brake that second hairpin in the middle of the downhill ,the first hairpin I just brake drift.

Like Ryen said, you don't need e-brake on the first corner. However, this course is designed to punish drifting. There is just a little too much distance to the second hairpin to link without e-brake, and just a little too little distance in order to shift your weight back and forth while maintaining a drift. If you have a ton of horsepower you can probably do it but you wouldn't be sliding the whole time. If you're really good you might be able to burnout up to the second hairpin and brake drift into it. Also having a well-tuned car helps a lot in tight places like this.

See my GTPDC video for a good example of these hairpins, they're definetely the highlight of that video (plus the double-apex right after them which is even more difficult if you ask me).

2nd hairpin I take the car out of gear by tapping reverse, this kills the revs. Then before entering, I feint and then gas, sending a jolt of rpms to the floor, disengaging traction and initiating the drift.

e-brake e-brake e-brake!! lol what car are you using btw? this track is hardcore initial d style if it was at night time for some reason...
