Hakkinen moves into the frame at BAR

Former Formula One World Champion Mika Hakkinen has stepped into the frame to become Jenson Button's replacement at BAR Honda should the inevitable happen and the Briton actually join Williams next season.

Finland's national broadcaster YLE has quoted Hakkinen as saying, "There's no smoke without fire," concerning rumours about his possible return. "At this moment I don't want to make any more comment on those issues especially since discussions around BAR are so intense."

Hakkinen is now 35 and retired from F1 in 2001. He was linked with Williams before news of Button's move broke.

Am I the only one in the dark about the Captain Planet reference?

Anyways, Hakkinen better be competition for Schumacher if he is really coming back, no sense in returning if there is no hope of victory right?
 
I don't think someone of Hakkinen's calibre would consider returning unless he felt he had a chance at winning, however it seems BAR are confident of retaining Button and Williams now have doubts.
 
I don't think Button is going to go anyway any time soon.
His career shot of like a rocket with BAR and I'm sure he want to continues helping Honda developing the car.

Don't be like Tommi Makinen who left Mitsubishi and joined Subaru..
He was one of the greatest driver if not the greatest when he was with Mitsubishi.
After he joined Subaru..he suxxxed ass from the beginning to the end
 
I think with Mika it's basically McLaren or no-one. I doubt (especially since Buttons stuck with BAR) that we'll see a return from Mika -- plus he probably wouldn't be as fast as he was in his prime.
 
Button has said he wants to be at Williams because he thinks they can provide him with a car to win with. He will be at Williams for 2005!
 
I want him to be with Williams but somehow I doubt he will be.
 
i hate this "is mika coming back" news, he AINT COMING BACK. he is too old and too unfit. driver comeback rarely are successful.....remember Alan Jones and Nigel Mansell and to a lesser extent, jos verstappen, and i dont see how mika is going to be any different, same goes with jaques villeneuve

No, sorry for the confusion. I meant, it's hard for me to read, because of the small words. The magnifier helps, but I hate to use it.

I wasn't sure if he said anything at his website, so it sounds like he hasn't said anything.
 
I've got a successful comeback for you: Nikki Lauda. Oh, and have you heard of Alain Prost?
 
Hahaha -- what about the airline Nikki set up, Lauda Air, when I first flew on that I was praying their flying wouldn't be like his driving:lol:
