*Warning*

If you don't want to know the ending, do NOT watch this video. The poor quality has made this a bit confusing, but the result seems pretty clear. You don't have to take this as true or false, but it's starting to spread like wild fire.

BTW, if you DO watch it, and want to talk about it, use spoiler tags, please.

I've linked it so we'll know you actively clicked the link on your own will, and not by mistake.

The one thing I don't understand is how the death occured, but the video is still a bit weird. However, it is a bit sad, but it was obvious. All those commercials of the "battle field" and the video about the "soldier" retailing the events pointed to this.

There is supposed to be a second cutscene after the credits which the video does not show. After Master Chief escapes (from a second Halo???), Cortana says: 'we'll be here for a while'. Master Chief gets into a cryo-chamber and says: 'call me when you need me'.

... at least that is what I've heard.

New Link added.

Fro:
I've been hearing that, too.
Either way, the series is done and over with, or that's how Bungie is saying it.

I think Bungie is just putting it away for a while. They must be sick of Halo by now.

That video isn't the full ending. If you beat it in legendary there is another video after the credits.

You have to beat it on Legendary to see the real ending. After the credits roll there will be another video.....Highlight next area for real ending.
Master Chief does not die. Beat it on legendary then watch the video that they show after all the credits roll by. He is still alive and waiting for the next battle.

Actually, from what I hear, that video appears to anyone. Legendary just happens to show him drifting towards a planet's night-time side with many lights showing.

I was kinda confused on the death as well but I decided to watch the credits anyway to see if anything happens and sure enough it did and he's ok. Yay!
