Having just invested in a G29 setup, I'm finding it pretty unwieldy to hit a button on the wheel for handbraking on the fly.

What are your favourite hacks to make a cheap effective handbrake thats easy to use?

Does anyone just have a DS4 sat next to them, and configure one of the joysticks to act as a handbrake if pushed?

Yeah mines mapped to O. Hard to hit it when mid turn.

Hacks?

Or what's the cheapest purchasable option that'll work alongside my G29?

I use the flappy paddles for the Handbrake. I only drift with manual geared cars. I use the th8a for shifting. So far the best option for me.
There is a Handbrake from thrustmaster available at the moment. The thing is I don't know where to mount it on my wheel stand pro v2.

what du you use the Handbrake for? (except starting from grid?)

It's also pretty handy when you're trying to initiate a drift.
I've got my eye on that sparco handbrake from thrustmaster as well, but the console version is a bit taxed at the moment. Anybody here know if the PC version can be made to work on PS4?

It does work (with a Thrustmaster wheel), but it doesn't come with the cable you need to connect it with. I think you need to get the same type of cable the Thrustmaster TH8A shifter uses (detachable Mini-DIN/DIN cable). @PocketZeven knows more about this than me, hopefully he can/will give you the correct information.

Yeah it works but you will have to use another USB port.
Is there someone who can confirm if that sparco handbrake can be mounted on the RGS MODULE from wheel stand pro?

Yeah, it get that. But you don't need a handbrake for that. I prefer to initiate drifts by using the cars weight, turning in and lifting throttle...
It is far more controllable if you ask me, but hey, do as you like.

I grew up doing "handbrakeys". I like using the handbrake in many situations in many cars to pivot the car into corners. Its fun

Thanks for suggestions above. Most look and sound like a lot of hassle and expense. And bulky. I'd be happy to sacrifice realism and have a a simple lightweight push button that could be taped near the shifter for easy access. Flappy paddle isn't a bad idea but I switch between using the H shifter and the paddles so I leave them both mapped to gears.

Even if you usually initiate a drift with the cars weight, an easy to reach handbrake can be very usefull to extend your slide with the purpose of linking corners

Yes you can. The only difference between the + console version and the PC version is the DIN cable (to plug in either base or their new Simhub). Some PS4 racegames (AC,PC2, GT sport, DiRT etc.) support USB peripherals. However you will only be able to use it as a sequential (not handbrake). Thrustmaster has told me they will be selling the DIN cable seperately in the near future.

So I would still recommend the console version.
