Been Looking for a Wheel Stand for a while, but have just been setting up the wheel in front of my monitor when i wanted to play. However i recently purchased a Oculus and want a dedicated table/stand for my wheel and Oculus.
I could not justify $150 for a GTOmega or $250 for a NLR wheel stand, When i picked up the oculus for $399 with a $100 amazon Gift Card, making it $299. A simple metal stand is not worth 1/2 to 3/4 the price of the VR headset im going to be using it with.
So i was about to build a PVC Rig but then saw this welding table in a friends garage and it clicked. Went home and took some measurements and then went to my local harbor freight.
table is priced at $75 but with 25% off a single item purchase coupon. the table ends up costing $56 plus tax
The box says the table is rated for 350Lbs and i would believe it its super rigid. I still want to make some kind of bracket to angle the pedals and prevent them from sliding around, also may drill the table and bolt the wheel on but is probably not needed because of how rigid the table is.
Figured i would share because i have been lurking these forums for years and seeing as how many are looking for inexpensive alternatives.
Monitor setup is a 40" 4k and a 27" 2560x1440 in portrait which used to be my primary monitor.
