Hello, im like new around the (great information!) forum,
i'm playing gt3 about 2years now, and after i got 100% (2weeks ago) i desided to get a wheel :) and now the problem comes.. i dont know what i like most...drifting with the analog or with my wheel, (logitech force) what are the opinions of the people that are drifting, and (hehe) have you ever broke a wheel on drifting? :odd: last night i tried like 30 times with the wheel and (i used to be a good drifter, stable and solid) entering deep forest (impreza wrx 361hp on sims with driftsetting) after the last tunnel im steering right and smack em left in .... everytime lost with and without wheel   maybe new settings... hmmz
anyway, do you prefer a wheel or the stick? (and if you use a wheel forcefeedback on or off?
maybe a dumbass question but i was wondering :)
greets

A) Welcome to GTPlanet B) Please do a search first C) It takes alot to master on the wheel because it's completely different compared to the DS2 as it's a totally different setup D) Gotta go with the wheel.

Just remember. Search before making new threads.

Wheel or DS2?

Wheel - Hard to get used to if you have played for a while with a controller. If the wheel you are using has only about 180 degrees or so of rotation it is easier to get the hang of. For instance the new Logitech Driving Force Pro can be switched to 900 degree mode, which makes it much harder (mostly because the game wasn't design for that amount of precision, so the the point that force feedback kicks in is a couple of degrees apart. For me the whole driving experience is MUCH better with the wheel, because of the added realism/feel (even if it is harder). Throttle position - You have a pedal with probably 1-3 inches of travel, that is A LOT more than with the DS2, which is maybe an 1/16th of an inch, or a half inch if you use the Right analog stick.

DS2 - The analog is fine to use when drifting, but IMO if you are going to use it to make videos or anything, it doesn't look right when played back. The ease of moving through the whole steering wheel travel (obviously not a wheel, but you can go from full lock right to opposite lock, in a fraction of a second, it's not that fast with a wheel), is shown on the the replay, you're wheels can look like they are chattering back and forth, if you use fast inputs. If you have extremely steady hands (I don't) it can look alright. OK, but the big one as I mentioned before, for me, is throttle control, it is even tougher to hold the correct throttle position with the DS2 because of the lack of travel, sure it IS analog but really tough to actually use.

So, for me, the wheel is much more fun and satisfying to use because of the added realism, even if it is a little tougher to master.

I play pretty aggressively with my wheel, turning it from lock to lock quickly and my wheel is doing fine, you should be alright drifting with it. You have to make sure you don't select Simulation for your steering assist, or you won't be able to countersteer well. I like to use Professional Steering assist for my wheel setup, its more responsive to the slightest movements in the wheel. Force feedback is always on, I couldn't see playing the game without it. You can check out video demonstrating drifting with the wheel in the footer.

Hey your videos aren't workin' breaker. I tried to show someone the videos yesterday and they weren't then also...just a heads-up.

great reply's and help  👍 thnx for the driftsettings nightkids4ever, i had the lsd wrong.
now i'm playing with the wheel and i noticed the throttle(control) :P i make curves better/smoother!! (after a few laps) its a greater feeling, having force feedback on, so i'll go with the wheel :)
i had the steering assist on "beginner"but i'll expiriment with that, thanx all for the help! 👍
gonna drift some more :D

They were working, its not my ftp so I have no control over it. I'll have to ask the owner about hosting it again.
