Has anyone bought a car off ebay?

I want the Ferrari F10 badly! Yes I know I can't do any race with it, but I don't do much A-spec. I mainly race Arcade with my friends. This would be an awesome car to have for this. Since I spend most my time in arcade I doubt I'll ever have anytime to grind for the F10. So I thought I'd be willing to pay someone for it. Before I offered that I found one on Ebay. The guy has it listed as DLC, but I'm thinking he'll just gift it to me. Has anyone had any bad experience with buying cars off ebay? Thanks!
 
Look on Ebay and you will see most ask for insanely high prices for any car for the game, unfortunately there are people willing to pay those high prices for them.

Yesterday I saw a stealth code at $154 with 5 bids
 
I have not bought one but I sold a few before the market bottomed out. Don't buy one on there, you can get the ferrari's on the marketplace pretty easy.
 
I would not even bother with how meany people are duping cars buying them is a waste of time you could probably trade some one for an F10 in the market place.
 
It is hard to believe that anyone would even consider buying a car off eBay. I guess some people have more money than brains.
 
I can kind of understand why people would pay an amount of money for the Stealth or Chromeline cars since they aren't buyable ingame, but not for the cash they go for. Makes me wish i'd thought of it and sold my stealth and chrome cars before using the codes, would have paid for the Signature Edition i'd bought. But why oh why are people paying big money for a car anyone can buy with a week of grinding B-Spec endurance races, or even the American Championship races that take 5 minutes each and pays 98k. You could have it in 1 day of hard grind!
 
If you grind the Dream car championship in B-Spec you can have the money to buy the F1 after 10 times. I do this while I watch tv. I just put Bob in the X1 and let him go. When a commercial comes on I pop over and check his status, start him on the next race if need be and let him go some more. the total payout if you run all 5 races as a championship is a little over 1 million credits and in the X1 takes a little over an hour. In roughly 11-12 hours you could have the money to buy the car and all you would have to do is check in on Bob every 20 minutes or so during that time.
 
You know cars that you have in game, say a Jaguar XJ-13 or an X1 ... If you went to sell that on eBay would you be breaking copyright laws or anything like that?

I'm not thinking of doing this btw, as I can't really be bothered, you can generally trade for anything you want. Dude I'll trade you an X1 if you want to use that instead of a Ferrari 2007?

I got the Jaguar XJ13 for free by playing a game on Facebook and I got the code for it from there ;D Besides if this guy hasn't even been playing the GT-Life he can't really do any B-Spec endurances can he ? But I wouldn't buy a car from eBay, just the play the game and only buy the cars you need to do the events. Also doing the seasonal events and special events gives you alot of money, you should be able to save up some money pretty fast :D

I'm not sure that it's actually a violation.

It does say no intangibles... but then it gives an example of a soul. This is the transfer of a good with value (which the buyer assigns)... seems acceptable to me.

They do say the idea with downloadable is immediately sending a link, which cannot be done.

The issue is the buyer isn't protected because there is no way to confirm delivery. Paypal will side with the seller in these cases.

Seems borderline within the rules to me.

If you can argue a value, then how is it not a copyright violation? Selling the game or the DLC codes is fine because they do hold some intrinsic value, but the virtual cars do not.

Well just to let everyone know, I have 2 kids and one is just 3 weeks old. So my time I have playing is VERY limited. Also, I am an F1 fanatic. I figured I paid to race only F1 cars in F1 2010 so why not pay to race an F1 in GT5. I love GT5, but I almost prefer the single player in F1 2010 a little more. That's why I don't play single player in GT5 to much, but F1 2010 doesn't have split screen so this solves some of my problems. Now if only PD would add some more F1 circuits! Spa is all I ask for!

Ask someone if you can borrow theirs, its silly to pay on ebay for it.

Ebay did cancel my auctions. I was able to sell 5 cars before, but they then sent a warning and canceled the two auctions I had running.

They still charged and collected ebay and paypal fees for the cars I did sell :crazy:
 
To the OP, ill trade you an F10 inafew days. Pm me when you can :)

Smart sellers should just sell a pencil drawing for $50 - and include a free gift of an F1 in GT5 - No violation there :lol:

Very True. 'Free F2007 in GT5 when you buy a doodle of a house' would be fine according to the rules. Theres really no point of buying on ebay though. All cars are available in the game at some point, and as soon as everyone is bored with duping X2010's the F1 cars will be duped. Save your money and do some trading on the Marketplace.

I would really like to get a couple of the Stealth models, but sadly about the only way to get one is through that channel. :( I hope PD will address this in the near future.
