After doing Silverstone with the HSV 15th and Spa with the R18 I noticed that in my first stint I worn out the rear tyres at the same rate as the front ones (makes sense, since both circuits have many high speed turns) but in my second one the rear tyres wore out at 2x the speed of the front tyres.
As a matter of fact, I had to pit before the last lap of Spa because my rear tires were at 2 and I didn't see how I could possible make another lap seeing how I was dissintegrating them.
And also after pitting, I tried to pull a quick lap with fresh tyres, no rain and 0% water on track, braking as late as I could, and I wasn't nearly as fast as my best lap, I had to brake a little earlier.
So it seems that grip actually gets WORSE instead of better to the end of the race. I didn't notice any more spinning of the rear tyres in the second stints, but I guess that must be why they wear out so quickly, though the difference is so big that this might be a separate glitch.
BTW loved the Spa race, it's glorious to drive there at night under the rain, better than Nordschleife and La Sarthe. It's a pitty that the AI slows down so much after the first lap, because they actually gave me a couple of good battles before that. Then they started slowing down and pitting too much and the race was over, next time I'll do 4 or 5 pit stops too to make it interesting.
