Has GT3 affected your regular driving?

lol you guys, actually i mad a "rally" in my city by going around and finding good corners to go round (i am 16 by the way) then i found some friends of mine and we did the time trial version of a rally and i ended up winning. One thing to note is that it was in the snow and we had someone taking pictures and they got a picture of me (in true rally form) in my intrepid with TONS of oversteer, errrrr with a big drift, oppisite lock and i still made it. snow is fun in a car. cant wait to drive my grandpa's bmw alone. wisconsin if you were wondering.

Well one of my frieds dosent own GT3 but he owns a ps2 and i take the game to his house now and then and he can drive.... well bfore i showed him the game he drove preey normal......now he drives like crazy he'll go as fast as the car can go and he'll weave through traffic. Its funny tho

I guess I've learned a little. It tought me how to push a car to its limits. But also not to push it too far. But it hasn't really made me better. I get better by practicing.

I think everybody here is enough mature to know the differences between a game like GT3 and real driving.

I mean, u are not going to be drifting at every corner, or red lining at 200mph+ on the highways!!!

I'm with you on this one too cold. Bangin gears and hittin the apex on the ramps are things that arent going to get you into too much trouble. I think it's very important to be a responsible driver, I had to learn that lesson the hard way. Too all you younger folks out there just gettin behind the wheel, enjoy your driving experience but get to know your vehicle before you start trying to drift through the turns. You dont bounce off the wall's unscathed in real life.

It sure has helped me driving in Toronto.... when someone passes me on the highway or someone cuts me off I make sure that i catch up and drive right in front of them and push them off the road a whole bunch of times.

It doesn't affect me day-to-day, because I'm actually a fairly experienced driver, and have learned a lot of what there is to know about driving, particularly the weight transfer thing.

However, if I get into a road car right after a session on GT3, I find that I'm absolutely on fire. My brain's working so fast, and my judgement is tuned to a tee, my observation is improved, and the whole thing just flows better for me.

GilesGuthrie - I agree, if you learnt to drive years before any of the GT games then it can hardly be expected to change your driving.

Definately made my driving better. Gt3 made driving on snow and ice easier since you know how to control slides.

Well, actually, I've had my license for more than 20 years and been driving for more than 25. Not bragging; just explaining that I already knew about handling dynamics and car control. Actually, I'm fairly impressed by the feel of GT3, even with a controller not a wheel. There used to be arcade games called Hard Drivin and Race Drivin that had really good force feedback on the steering. I miss those games!

My wife always makes fun of me when we drive, because I use every inch of my lane late-apexing all the turns and drifting wide on the exits. She's convinced I'm going to kill her by rearending some shmoe while I'm braking deep for a corner.

I drive a nimble and quick little car, and both my GT3 and my IRL driving play off of each other. The only thing I have to remember is I'm the one who has to realign it if I get too frisky and start hopping the boulevard curbs...

Funny how care of the wallet is a big motivator for careful driving.

Even when I'm pressing on a bit there's always the 'patch of diesel' or 'errant child' margin in hand.

No affect at all I'd have to say. I've been playing racing games for years, and it hasn't affected my driving style one bit. I think I already apply some of the basic principles of race driving to real life driving anyway, like only braking in a straight line at higher speeds, smooth cornering, etc. And, I've got to be honest, I don't see how anyone could learn any skills from a racing game. I'd never drive in the same way in real life, and really hope other wouldn't either.

Well, Al, I beg to differ on that one. I'm friends with a number of amateur SCCA Showroom Stock road racers.

Many of them use GT2/3 with a wheel and pedals to keep their skills sharp over the off-season. They say it definitely is realistic enough to keep them in shape for the spring start.

Nice! Here I thought I was the only one who remembers Hard Drivin'. What a great game - it was pretty advanced graphically (at the time - 1987, I believe). Now it's so choppy and bland by comparison.

I floor it out of the turns up to speed and screeched the tires on a turn before, I find myself doing the weight transfer thing at corners and I have to make sure nobody is following before going into GT3 drive mode like that.
