Has my dad damaged my dear Fanatec GT3 RS V2?

Dear readers, I have a Fanatec GT3 RS V2 which i bought in October, and I have been very pleased with it indeed. This week-end, though, I had my father on visit and suggested he take a spin on GT5.

This was probably not a wise move, as he turned out to be rather aggressive with the steering. I noticed he did several 180 degrees quick counter steers (accompanied by heavy cursing..), but I tried not to pick too much at him. I have no idea of how much these wheels are supposed to withstand, so guessed/hoped it would be ok.

The day after, I fired up GT5, and become concerned with the feel of the wheel. The steering is now quite wobbly (especially with fast cars and go-kart) and sometimes small "skips" occur in the grip of the car. It also feels as there is a more pronounced transition between either side and the center (coming in to the center area).

The feeling is somewhat comparable with the feeling in GT5 Prologue before i added some DEA value. In GT5 (release) i have mostly rode without DEA and had no problems (FW 669, SEN 900, FF 30, ABS 80, Drift off, SEN 0-10, DEA off, SPR 0). I have also tried adding som DEA and it helps some on the wobbling, but the movement on the wheel is not as smooth as I remember.

Questions is: What are the chances of hardware damage? And if yes, what kind of damage (perhaps the belt has come slightly out of place?) and is there some adjustment I could do myself?* I´m not too keen on sending in the wheel and play GT5 with a six-axis all christmas :)

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
(This message will be posted on gtplanet, fanatecwheel and 911wheel.de. Hopefully this is not bad manner, I´m rather new to this forum thing)

I think the simple way of putting it is just telling your dad he trashed your wheel and he owes you one for X'mas. Good luck! you might endup with a spare wheel. :)

This is why I am hesitant to let others use my rig. Like Rad said I would tell your pappy that he owes you a new GT2, I'd also have him throw in some Clubsports if you dont have those.

Hi,and thanks for both replies.

I feel I´ll have to be a bit more sure on my case before I send him a "invoice", but your suggestions are definitely noted.

I do have the Club Sport Pedals, but I might ask for a race suit and a fresh pair of Sparco´s to go with the new wheel :)

Merry christmas from Oslo.

I thinks its litlle bit stupid to ask a race suit just for playing. Or do you race with real cars :) ?

There you go. Make sure its all white and get a white Simpson helmet while your at it. That'd be awesome!!!

I had the same problem yesterday! My cousin play very aggressive with my GT3 RS V2 and now my wheel seem to be not totally but partly damaged...the FF is much weaker than before and i think it's due to the belt, in fact the wheel(turned off) has much less mechanical resistance than before when i steer...i'm really sad, it's not a good thing to pay so much for a wheel and then it lasts less than two months!

If the wheel can't handle a little aggressive driving, then I'd question the quality of the wheel, not the driver. Fact is, sometimes....aggresive maneuvers need to be made, and a quality wheel should be able to withstand that.

So how are you going to prove he broke it and that it wasn't like that before from your driving?

I agree. And if you make a wheel with strong resistance and FFB, then it needs to be designed to handle a human on the other end countering those forces.

That said, my Turbo S from last year is still going strong, and I've had a few moments.
