I really enjoy this game but with the screen tear and slowdoen on eiger is really annoying. On time attack its fine but on the second lap there is screen tear and slowdown when in cockpit view mode and you are racing your ghost.
I honestly think PD need to downgrade this game to achieve what they set out to do.
It happens on fuji too.
If they do employ damage into the current build they are in trouble.
They should cut back to 720p and less cars on track.
Sorry but the replays are the only thing I play this game for now.
I know its unfinished but I think forza 2 is the better game and forza 3 will put PD to shame.
 
So you'd rather never released Prologue and instead waited until GT5 proper for the online version?

This way, they get to iron out all the bugs. Beta testing only goes so far.
 
I think it's why PD are taking so long, they're scratching their heads and wondering what to do next. PD are flogging this "demo" to death and really need to start pulling their finger out because the Microsoft competition will make GT5 look comical.
 
I really don't think PD has anything to worry about when it comes to Forza 3. Forza 2's graphics were extremely grainy so don't say anything about GT's graphics, they truly are the best on the PS3. I've never gotten much screen tear it must be your TV.

Maybe it is you're TV? Mostly slow... Tear screen is mostly from TV's not games

I've never had screen tearing on GT5p. Graphics aren't the be all and end all. GT5p May have the best graphics on the PS3, but the online game play is farcical.
 
I have never had any issues graphically with GT5P. I have to say that the graphics are the only thing that they did right in this game. If you take that away it would be a total flop.

BTW I have a 1 year old 52" Sharp Aquos...

The online play is atrocious and disgusting at best but it isn't all PD's fault the people make playing online not a very enjoyable experience.

I am with the others your TV must be at fault.

online is only farsical because they haven't implemented a 'lobby' system/interface for connecting online. it would also make the racing better as you could kick derelict drivers. i would have thought that to be a no brainer but there you go.

btw, if you want to talk about farsical AND graphics, lets talk about Forza 2's car models eh?
 
Ha forza? Thats not even an issue for PD, They know far enough whats wrong with the game and what needs to be improved people need to see Prologue as a Beta after all Beta testing is what is needed for a big release they need to get the final GT5 Just right and dont want to leave any bugs or graphical issues in it. Sure you may notice a slight graphical bump hear and there but can you honestly tell me what video game doesnt have one small bug? Even Crysis and MGS4 have things like these and it just gives PD time to iron them out.
Even if PD do decide to put damage on the current build engine they are using atm after all it's beta testingwould you rather have a damage model that may be flawed in a Prologue to a great game or have it perminently in GT5? We'll have to wait and see but dont make your mind up about the games yet ;)

Youv'e just pointed out an oxy moron... thats the point, it's a no brainer because there are no lobbies online, thats why it's farcical.

Follow the AUP, no text speak allowed, as in "btw".
 
I think they are getting the game perfect but that's how they are, they are always know how to push beyond the boundaries, thinking outside the box, it will take them a while to get the full game out. I mean think about it, if it takes them half a year to model one car, think how long it would take to model a track, damage, weather, car functionality, features and wiping out the bugs (which I don't there are any), I can pretty much understand why it takes a while.

I've owned and play the heck out of Forza and have played Forza 2. I don't dislike the game, I've just never once thought it in the same league as Gran Turismo. I mean, Forza's models were bad. Forza 2's weren't much better... Still, the game is a lot of fun to play and has a much more refined online interface. But give Polyphony time and they'll get it right. They always do.

As for grammer/abbreviation Police - thats not the point here. The AUP is the point here, I suggest you read it and take note of it. Minor spelling mistakes everyone makes. Text speak is not minor spelling mistakes, it's lazy grammar.

Anyway, GT5:P runs fine without any screen tear on my TV, which does support 1080p. If it's an option, I suggest that you set GT5:P to output at 720p instead of 1080p, and the tear might go away.

The AUP also quotes... "No slang words that promote laziness will be tolerated. Decent grammar is expected, including proper usage of capital letters".

Now back to the thread subject. Screen tear has been known to occur on certain tracks, certainly on Daytona, so it may not be down to the make or type of TV.

Now you do realize that the AUP is not the ten commandments right? It should be followed. But it should have to be enforced completely to the point of ridiculing or harassing someone.

And for me to be on topic and contribute.

I don't think that Polyphony has bitten off more than they can chew, I think they've bitten off just slightly more than they could handle. What they forgot was that they had a ridiculously loyal fanbase that has been waiting years for this game to come out. And when they released Prologue, they remembered how big that fanbase was. They're known for good high quality "worth the wait" games.

The realization of the online being suckish is certainly something they continually work on. The graphical issues as well.

without a doubt, when GT5 is really released it will be mindblowingly awesome. I for one cannot wait for that day.

Thanks for trying to set someone straight here, but things like BTW, IIRC and FTW are used quite frequently and are OK as far as we're concerned, it's the true "txt chat" posts such as bergauk described that are frowned upon,
statements such as:

"i c u ppl hav a mad tyte forum here wats teh best drift car yo"

which are devoid of sense, grammar, punctuation and capital letters.

Anyway, since you're back on topic: Play nicely kids. ;)

No of course the AUP isn't carved in Granite, but it's there for a reason. None of us on these forums are perfect.

Anyway, I think PD have been riding on Prologue for too long now. They need to start upping the antee more. Think about it, what has been added to GT5p since it's release thats made any major difference to online gameplay.

Well if BTW, IIRC and FTW are OK as far as you are concerned, then maybe the AUP needs to be overhauled, because text speak "bad grammar" comes under those aforementioned quotes you phrased.

Since I'm not a programmer, I'm not sure how big of a deal it is to overhaul the online user interface/player matching system that they have right now. I think it is important to keep in mind the fact that this is PD's first venture online.

Obviously it isn't perfect but they're working on it, and let's face it. Prologue, as previously stated, is just a test bed for things they are thinking of implementing into the final build of Gran Turismo 5. It's a working beta, and for what it is... I love it.
