I'm really gutted, spec 2.0 has reduced the amount of Force Feedback strength hugely. I'd say what was strength 2-4 before, is now 10 👎

I feel this has ruined the feel and value of the T500. This wheel is no longer scary. I've damn near broke my thumbs going through the corkscrew occasion and that strength is gone. No more tearing your hands off the wheel in a crash, no crash effect at all.

Now I'm in two minds as to wether I want to buy the shifter or not.

PD, please fix this.

I've added a poll to see if it just me.

Edit: It was just me, ensure your wheel is set to controller one if you feel you are missing feedback effects

I did the nurb seasonal with FGT, had FFB down from 10 to 5 and it still rips your arm off. I haven't noticed any changes, and i like to think i am used to this wheel since I have had it since launch day back in January

AKAIK spec 2.0 has not altered anything on the T500RS. where did you get that info?

FYI it is not listed as one of the changes made on spec 2.0 http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gt5/spec2/. only thing they changed for wheels was button remaping support for logitech g25/27

I know it's not listed in the changes, but lots of stuff isn't. I've had the wheel since release too and I'm pretty certain the strength feels reduced. Have you tried crashing?

I use a G27, and have not noticed anything negative about the changes....but I was wondering if you have checked your settings? As a lot of things have been updated, I would imagine your wheel settings could have been affected as well.

The force feedback is definitely more subtle in most cars/situations now than it was before spec 2.0
Which isn't to say it's ruined, though. On the contrary IMO! I actually feel more input from what the tires are doing and feel the wheel become light or heavy in certain conditions. It has more feel to it and it's likely because of the physics changes. I like it a lot
It'll still yank your arm off if you drive over the bumps at the Ring with an FGT though!

That's exactly what I felt as well with my T500 RS. It just feels more real to me for some reason.
Tried it at 4 with and without power steering and at 10 with and without power steering. At 4 it didn't yank any limbs off at all, but the effects where there. Only issue was that the wheel didn't turn fast enough for my taste. Upping it to 10 it was a whole different story. The wheel yanked as hard as it could at the times you would expect it would in a real life situation as well.
Switching off power steering at 10 while driving in a car that has power steering originally kinda made me feel sometimes like I had to fight against a servo motor of the non working power steering installation in the car. Switching power steering on would let me handle those cars as it should. When I use an old car like a Mercedes SLR from '54, then the power steering effect wasn't there, but instead the car felt normal like any car without power steering installed in it.

That's how I feel about the whole changes. To me it's positive and I hope it'll stay like this.

Are you sure you did not have the wrong amount of force in the first place?
99% of all cars sold to the public comes with power steering.
Even F1 cars..

The forces should be relatively low to ensure all the details sipps through.

I have to agree with this assesment. I think what the OP is feeling is a change in car physics which in turn is affecting the feel of the FFB.

Personally I run it at 4 , no power steer and simulation settings. I like the realism but would like to keep my arms/hands in one piece please :)

Funny it had been awhile since I played GT5. In iRacing I kept FFB low cause I didnt see how it would give me advantage over anyone. So in Gt5 I guess my setting was at 7 which felt too insanely strong in my open-car prototypes (like the Courage's, bmw v12, etc). So I'm going to for sure turn it down to like 3-4.

Do you think its realistic that cars nearly brake your thumbs going through corners? Certaintly not since power steering, which all modern cars have. Maybe they reduced the FFB strength due to it burning out the wheels at such high strength.

Overly strong FFB is unrealistic anyway. But if you like it strong, turning off power assisted steering will help, even though the result is less detailed FFB and generally less feeling for the cars, just a heavier wheel as expected.

I think it's a combination of the new physics, driving cars with low downforce and not having played in a while. I still think the crash effect is no longer there. It was there wasn't it? A jolt on the wheel when you crashed? I'm sick and I think I may have lost my mind ;)

Yeah, I think the 'crash effect' isn't there and the wheel doesn't swing wildly clockwise, counter, clockwise, counter with bad intentions like it did before when you lose control of the car. But if that's what you (or others) miss, then you crash wayyyy too often that you actually started liking it (LOL)

Do most ppl have the power steering option enabled? I use a g27 and I think mine has never been. I actual just recently noticed the option. Has it always been there?

+1

Errr.... I take it all back.

Somehow I'd set the wheel to controller 2, not sure how, it's always been controller 1....anyway...this was the issue.

On setting the wheel back to controller 1, I've got the arm ripping off track incident effects back.
