NASCAR On-Line...

These guys are all wrecker or checkers. Dicy moves with 3 to go, understandable, but 18 left? In a 20 Lap event! In two 20-lap events, I've led 15 laps but been wrecked each time...

I got back them though, with a 4 wide slingshot through the middle from 8th to 1st..

Also, These guys know nothing of drafting at all. I've found two good guys to draft with, but others wreck you for a laugh...

Also, My tyres are shot, how can I reduce wear...

This is the one of the reasons why I won't race online. I have not time for people who cheat.

As for tire wear, try a harder compound of different suspension settings.

I need help with suspension... I really don't know what to do. I know changing camber will do something but I don't want to make the car looser than it already is.

have you tried giving it more positive rear toe? It should make it more stable

What the op described is dirty driving...not cheating.

Honestly, online NASCAR is fairly hit-or-miss. You're really better off if you can find a lobby filled with older (20-30+) racers, and especially if they have mics. Mic'd up racing is ideal because a decent group of people will call it out if they are passing or taking different driving lines.

PROTIP: These people are general in NASCAR lobbies set to a high number of laps. 👍

Use racing softs in NASCAR. Seems counter-productive, but the soft tires seem to last longer. Maybe because they skid less?

The problem with online is that it's VERY hard to get a room full of people who both WANT to race clean and CAN race clean.

I even have found myself getting squirly in attempts to be competitive... trying to take the line clean but bumping the oponents... I think we are just not at the point yet where a game can really give you enough imersion to make racing clean as feasible as it should be...

I mean if I had wrap around screens with good surround sound and a motion simulator to help me out it would be much easier, but as is it's almost impossible to guage where a guy is next to me going through a tricky turn, especially when I can't feel my car breaking loose but rather have to look for evidence that it is (I knowt he ffb on the wheel tells you some but nowhere near what a motion simulator would).

Another thing is that people don't understand the danger of going 3 and 4 wide in any kind of race and I often find that if you aren't in the first 3 of the grid, you are doomed to a bumper car match at the back of the grid that at best means you waste preciuos seconds driving too slowly and carefully trying to avoid damage and at worst means the glitchy netcode sends you fliying for the lightest contact (this is even better on full damage servers).

Oh so true, people can have the best intention's in the world but then that 1st corner comes, the adrenaline start's flowing and all hell breaks loose, i find it better when racing random's to hang back at the 1st corner let them get it out of their system and then gun it.

For the protip person : i have found this to be very true, the more laps does seem to indicate good intentions from the host and people who wanna crash & bash aren't generally interested in 20-40laps.

This is why I strictly race with people I know, particular my group. I think with enough people here who want to race clean we should be able to get a little group together.

In all honestly, NASCAR fans don't care about clean racing or fair racing. They want the drivers to rough each other up, slam them into a wall, spin them out, et cetera. I forget who said it or how exactly the line goes, but something to the effect of "Boys, have at it" or "Have at it, boys." This poor sportsmanship appeals to certain demographics.

Not to mention that in real life, the driver has fear for his life and his vehicle. I would not want even a minor ding on my Ferrari.

Ive been hosting open rooms but i put on the title lvl30/friend or boot. It seems to be working you still have some wrecks s its daytona. Its the hosts job to run as clean as a room as he can. which means leaving a race to boot if needed and even watching new drivers in freemode to make sure they can at least hold a line. And finally dont join rooms that have aids on or boost.

I believe that the demographic your referring to is rednecks. I lived in Memphis TN for a while and am familiar with these people, intelligence and maturity are not their strong suits. In GT5 I've noticed rednecks in NASCAR as well as others who demonstrate a similar mentality. My take on NASCAR in GT5 is this: run a race and feel it out, if other are racing clean then I race clean with them, this is my preference. On the other hand if people are racing dirty, then return it in spades. Break checking and pushing a d bag into the wall in order to pass can be quite rewarding.

Well I'll note your name and room. I look for rooms like these and even create my own, but hard to get people to join.

I will as well. My 83 Toyota needs more of a workout. My problem is that on softs I can only last 10 laps, and hards around 12.

I kind of gave up on NASCAR online. I don't have the car setup that the fast guys do so on Daytona I end up getting left if I go to a room with good drivers. If I go to a regular room you're right, everyone just crashes and bashes.

In all honestly I should just setup a "My Lounge" and get a good car setup going for myself and practice a bit so I can run in the rooms with the pro guys. But I just don't really love oval racing anyway so I'd just rather not spend the time.

I've actually found a good room. Racing 10 secs...

I once went to a room where they actually did a few practice laps, showing me some good passing tactics and how to last longer, they told me the rules and there wasn't one accident in the 88 lap race that followed.

OMG I found soemone who can bump draft! We did it for 7 whole laps!!!

I find that online racing was a bit better in the weeks following release and now declined soon after the Holiday season. Probably from more people getting the game who arent diehards of the series.
But I had loads of fun with Nascar online. Once did a 100lap event with about 11 other people. It was good times Since everyone seemed to have a good grasp of racing techniques and courtesy for other drivers. Lots of bump drafting and teaming up for pitting.

However its more common to get the people who drive the opposite direction, or pit maneuver, or try to start arguments over how bad NASCAR in general is. Personally I dont care for it but it can be fun online in GT5
