Hatred for Jeff Gordon's inane little comments during the challenges. . .

Is it just me or is it really really REALLY annoying that he has to comment everytime you mess up on one of his challenges, yea Jeff we know the car is heavy, yes Jeff I messed up, just shut up and let me do the challenge. I feel like he should have come with the box so that I could punch him everytime he makes a stupid comment...it's as bad as John Madden commentating on football.

Anyway...Rant time over.

I'm trying to do the second Nascar challenge (the one after beginner) and am on the third challenge and I must say I feel the burning desire to clobber him with a tire iron. (I guess rant time wasn't over....who knew?) I guess I will just keep trying.

I couldn't wait to stick the Dupont car in the wall during the challenges. I just hit Level 12 so I completed the Intermediate Nascar challenges and got gold in all 4. If I knew I wouldn't meet the challenge requirement - "Days of Thunder" right into the wall!
 
I can barely hear anything he's saying. I'm playing with 5.1 surround sound and frankly his in game commentary sounds like he has a sock in his mouth. Sounds like I should go hug my home theater system!
 
The worst part about his voice over is that his acting quality is akin to a local used car dealership ad (or a Reno 911 PSA haha)!
 
People are complaining about the most ridiculous things, unbelievable.

EDIT: For people with sound problems: Have you tried the different in-game settings?
 
Why are we placing all the hatred on Gordon? Isn't it the same for Vettel and Loeb?
 
Yup, it's very annoying. But not as annoying as the small car selection. I have tons of cash, but I cannot even get a 20K car that I wanted from the start. The used lot is pathetic addition. Some events I cannot even race cause their isn't any cars for sale cause I am at the mercy of a stupid random draw. Sorry, but if a system hinders the game this much, it's garbage. Least in GT4, most of the cars were in the dealership.

Yup. God awful, it's like some Japanese Anime Dub, which is sadly expected (as Japanese made it). But jeez, his voice is so annoying too. Everything that they wanted to do with Nascar just fails on its head. Dunno how anyone enjoys anything Nascar in the game. PD wasted their time in my eyes.
 
I had a heck of a time with the inside corner on the intermediate, the very first one. I was so frustrated after i finally beat it that I didnt try the next one. I kept getting 13.4.

I really wanted to show one of the cones right up his you know what.

Pd modelers are good in modeling cars....but when it comes to humans, they are not that good. Glad GT5 is a game about cars! :)

While i do agree with you that his comments are a bit silly,i do not see why the titel of this thread should include a horrible disease... 👎

I think that part proved to me that P.D.(maybe Japanese developers in general) does everything in-house, and they must start outsourcing some smaller parts of the games to people who can do it better & faster. Don't get me wrong, I love the GT5 so far, but there are so many unexpected shortcomings in the game.

On topic, I messaged my friend on PSN yesterday titled "I want to", with the message reading "kill Jeff Gordon", so if that tells you anything. :lol:

I'm not a good racer to start with, and the challenge was extremely frustrating to me. Not that the challenge itself was that hard, but when it looked like I was going to get 1st place, other cars would just take me out. They pulled that cop car maneuver on me several times, where they sideswipe your rear, so you'll spin out? And that was the entry level 2. :lol: I'm just glad it's over!

Edit: I'm finally starting to see the limitation of the regular DualShock-type controllers, too. The NASCAR thing was brutal with it. After the challenge, I must say, I got really good with the analog stick. I got the impression that steering wheel is a must for this game, if you want improve your score, or time.

Same here. I'm playing with 5.1 surround and all i hear is an occasional muffled voice. Can't even make out what he's saying.
 
For me it's even worse. I happen to have a Philips AMBX ambilight sound crap thingy ( which is pretty cool but full of bugs ). It runs via my pc, I play GT5 on a Full HD with crappy sound so I use scart sound output to power the AMBX.

Still following me? Anyway, I can't control the volume so I'm forced to control the volume in the GT5 sound options. No problem at all, turned everything back to 10-15% and nobody woke up while racing at night untill this jeff gordon son of a -insert dirty word here- started talking and the whole house was shaking. Apperant;y, Jeff doesn't care about GT5's sound control settings and screams as loud as he wants whenever he wants.

Sigh...

The beauty of language, metaphors are allowed. That's why a horrible disease is included in the title. If it said "Hatred for Jeff Gordon - He should get Cancer" you'd have a legitimate point.

Anyway, on topic...

I agree Jeff's patronising little comments annoyed the hell out of me. His voice has all the emphasis and personality of a wet dish cloth.

I actually kinda like NASCAR, but very much dislike Jeff Gordon. Not looking forward to that part of it.

Loved when Jeff Burton took out Jeff Gordon the other day. Made me happy.

No, no, no, no, no, no. You have to mess up repeatedly to experience its' full effect. Try 20 minutes.
 
Really annoying I know. I keep failed the challenges because the PS3 controller is really hard to steer with :L.

Ah well, bronzes will do for now!
