Hi guys,

So I got a new PC with decent spec and I was wondering if any of you used the Gamer 2 PVR. If so what settings do you use for best quality uploads to You Tube?

I have the latest software installed from their website and have tried various settings but once uploaded to You Tube they still look poor. These are the videos I have uploaded:

1080P: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRzekghOH4I

720P: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrHT0A_W1jA

Set bit rate to high as possible at 14mbps.

When I view then on my tv (47" 1080P) or my other tv (32" 1080P) they are very blocky until reduced from full screen.

The original files do look a lot better on my PC and have been produced at 30fps.

Any help would be really appreciated guys.

There really are a lot of options here from bitrate to what encoder you will use. Not being specifically familiar with your hardware or what encoders you are using, I will be of little help. There is always trial and error. Generally it's a fine line between quality and file size. I would practice with small video clips, like 15 sec. clips until you find a setting that produces the quality you are looking for without taking Terabytes of storage to house it.

I would also take some time and comb www.videohelp.com; it's a huge site with a large database of info on the subject.

Thanks I will have a look, I didnt know if I should be doing anything to the video after recording using more software or not.

So I had a look at the website and the information is far more in depth than my brain can process. I think I am getting as much as I can from the PVR but its when it is uploaded to Youtube that the problems begin. I have downloaded Lightworks and I am beginning to get to grips with that to add graphics over the video.

Once I have the recording from my PVR should i be using a program such as this to do anything before I upload to Youtube? From what I can tell I should be ok to upload as soon as my PVR completes the recording.

Forgive me, I have no experience with video capture, editing, processing etc and if anyone can just help me with the basics I would be very grateful. I would prefer not to go into too much depth and would like to keep it as simple as possible.

File size is not a problem as once each replay is uploaded I will delete the file from my PC. My internet is capable of uploading large files and I dont mind leaving it to complete overnight.

Im using PS3 with all resolutions selected, capturing at 14mbps constant (highest value).

In Hauppauge settings using hardware acceleration, full screen.

Advanced settings; not using video scaler, I have tried it to get 30fps.

Encoder set to high level 4.2

Latency low

Im using Hauppauge Capture, latest version downloaded from their website.

That is all the settings I can find, I think the older software gave more but wanted to ensure I had the latest s/w and drivers from Hauppauge.

The files when recorded do not look too bad, but certainly not perfect as expected through component. Am I asking for too much and will I have to settle for what I have?

Would using another recording software program help or processing after capture somehow?

Sorry for all the questions guys, just want to be able to produce the best videos I can for the team.
