so many times we've all ready about a team or a driver writting off their chances of winning a particular race on a particular weekend. are teams and drivers now starting to accept their fates?

whatever happened to being the cocky-underdog?

you never hear, these days, of a driver who may not have the best equipment but plans to bust his hump to take it to the front runners?

i just read an article about webber and he mentions (paraphrased) "that it would be nice to win but doesnt expect to and that williams is far off".

eff that.

how about rally your team behind you and get people to believe that you have a fighting chance?

It's better to hide your aces in your sleeve.

Think of it this way, Renault, McLaren have a great chance at winning this weekend with Honda, Ferrari and Williams having a good chance.

If they all act cocky and say they will win it, the majority of them will have to eat their words.

Yes, it's all about setting expectations.

The days of every driver saying that they were going to win the race, and that the fact that they were 16th on the grid was an advantage - for special reasons - ended, thankfully, the day Eddie Irvine retired.

the day Eddie Irvine retired.

Who is now hooking up with Pamela Anderson :yuck:, therefore based on that evidence I can announce it is never good to be the cocky underdog.

Seriously though Button said he could win in Bahrain and Malaysia, that's obviously not happened and now he is sadly eating his words.
