Last night I went online again and first went to an Intermediate race on the High Speed Ring - had some fun there but too many maniacs on the track to really enjoy real racing. So, I decided to try the Expert Suzuka. Grabbed my GT-R and tuned it to 600pp as best I could (which means horrible compared to most here). Was shocked to see things locked at the Professional level so that's when I began to realize that I might have made a mistake.

There were only 7 of us to start the race and I think I started in 4th - the poor guy behind me wasn't too pleased when I didn't take off instantly and gave me a slight bump (his car was probably tuned better than mine anyway so he would have bumped me eventually).

At the first turn, my earlier realization was confirmed - this was not the place I needed to be. Fortunately, I didn't take anybody out with me but I never recovered. It was all I could do to keep from getting lapped (if the race had been 4 or 5 laps they would have caught me I think). I started getting comfortable during the 3rd lap but I think I'm gonna stick to the Intermediate stuff for now. Man, the other guys were good though - 5 of them were neck and neck the whole race.

One bonus though was I finished 7th in dead last but got $30k. My pride was hurt but my wallet sure felt good!
 
By the way, the physics level is set to professional in pro, so thats where the biggest difference will be in between Pro and Intermediate.

All I can say is: Practice in Free Run before going online with a new car, track, tune, physics level, tyres, whatever...otherwise you can't expect to do any good at all.
 
LinPark, it's tricky enough with the limited S1 tyres on Suzuka 600pp. Add to that the Pro physics, and it's tricky to stay in control of the car. Like Ardius says, practice first and gradually tweak yor car settings, then go into an actual race and give it a go.

Yesterday i was in 600PP with a Golf GTI and finished 3 in a race of 10 eheheh

You just need to practice with the pro physics. Sometimes I will be far behind the leaders, just running my race and one of them will make a mistake and I can catch them, making it a real race for me. Sometimes I will be close enough to see someone get punted or pushed. In those cases I let them get back on the track in front of me... but I will be looking to pass when they are back up to speed.

I generally am online from 9 PM EST to as late as 2 AM EST sometimes. Was on late last night and glad to see no GTP drivers because I was awful. I put it altogether around 1 AM and started coming in the top 4 on Intermediate High Speed Ring (700 PP I think). I was using a tuned Viper based on settings found in one of the garages here but tweaked slightly by me (that was probably the issue). Had some great races early where there were just 8 cars but the minute it went to 16 it just got out of control.

Saw lots of tuned Cleo's last night and most of the time they won - my real issue was that I just haven't gotten comfortable in traffic yet - I'm hoping to solve that one day or I'm really hoping for private race rooms that the GTP faithful can take over.

After the online racing I dropped back to the Arcade Time Trial for the Viper and moved into the top 50 - shooting for the top 10 on that one.

At approximately 1100 kg (I think) and with gold around $30k per kg (roughly) that would be one horifically expensive automobile. :)
