Have you ever sleep-played GT5?

I went on today after pulling an all nighter and I noticed a substancial amount of credits were spent. I thought it was weird because I wasn't connected to the Internet, and no one else was in my house, but lo and behold there was a brand-new white Civic EK in my Garage with 28.3 miles on the odometer and a Stage-3 Turbo on it. I have no recollection of purchasing it or driving it but I do remember driving my Camaro then turning off my PS3 and going to sleep.

Whoa. Never like that. I thought this was about nodding off while you're driving which happened a while ago and when I was using a DS3. It was during a point in time when I was staying up for 24-36 hours at a time for weeks.

I hope you backed up your data :D I once fell asleep when I was playing my PSP in bed, it ran out of battery whilst I slept so when I woke up I had lost the progress that I had stayed up for.:banghead:

Funny story, I had a friend fall asleep as the room host, we had to vote him out.

If you really want to pin point when that happened check your log in profile page. It has a running list of what cars you bought, A-spec events you've entered, and the time and date for each log entry. I'd be interested to see what your log says.

If only this function was available in the Hangover movies.

Many times, but in GT4. It was a very relaxing feeling. Usually during long races I fell into a strange state in which I was almost asleep, but still driving in the game.

I don't play GT5 long enough to fall into that semi-concious state. Oftenly I get bored not even half an hour after playing.

Yeah when I did 24hr Le Man I went into a daze, almost a trance like state.

Of course, GT5 is so boring it takes me to that state just about half nordschliefe in my first lap, then I fall asleep or just turn my PS3 off.

I'm not talking about boredom.

I found that that state was the best to be in when doing licence tests, bar none.

You gold the things without any problem and don't even realize it for a few minutes.

A long while back, I used to play so much Civilisation (II back then, I think) that when closing my eyes, I could still see the game. The same goes for the arcade game, 1942, which I played on an old Hankin table-top machine I picked up in the 90s. After seeing the topic, I thought the OP was going in that direction, or perhaps going to mention dreaming of playing GT5 (while asleep in bed). I wasn't expecting an example of genuine sleep-GT5ing!

I fell asleep in my lounge while testing the next SvT episode cars with a bunch of people..
Woke up the the sound of LVracer screaming at me because I stopped answering. :p

Gotta love having a reclining seat in your wheel mount.

That's not sleeping but trance or the ultimate state of Zen aka Nirvana.
I've experienced something different a lot of times, I often manage great laptimes when I'm contemplating completely unrelated stuff, from 'deep' thoughts to rather mundane ones, basically I'm better unfocussed than focussed apparantly...

As for the OP, are you sure it was you sleepwalking or could it be a burglar trying out the merchandise before stealing it and after driving that Civic realised it wasn't worth bothering? ;)
I did hear a story recently about a guy sleepwalking whilst driving his car, that seems pretty scary to me (I imagine he memorized or dreamt his daily commute whilst driving) who they somehow managed to pull over, count your blessings if you're only playing a videogame.

used to fall asleep playing gt3 at the test course, staring at the road sends you off to the land of nod and wake up with the rumble as car hit barrier

I have one to top that !!! I was on line with a few of my friends and I was chatting away to one of my friends as the clock ticked down after the start race button had been hit, just before it put us on the grid we went quiet as people start to concentrate and my friend who was chatting with us in the 30 second countdown managed to fall asleep in the 3... 2... 1... countdown on the grid !!!!!

I was having some serious trouble with insomnia and my doctor prescribed some Ambien CR. One is supposed to take it IMMEDIATELY before going to bed. Well, I took it and then logged into GTPlanet (and elsewhere) to catch up on things. Three days later I got a Logitech DFGT from FedEX. Swear I don't remember ordering it. The wife was, shall we say, not too happy. Nevertheless GT5 has never been the same since!:)

That is awesome.

I never sleep-played GT5 or any other game before, but I do find myself playing GT5 without looking at the screen. I would look around at my surroundings or look at my computer screen for a duration of a race and I find myself playing without error! kinda creepy.

That wheel was a godsend  Hope you're enjoying the game A LOT better now 👍

I've never actually "sleep-played" GT5, but I usually cruise the Nurburgring on some nights before I go to bed. The Ring at sunrise with a nice sounding Premium, no HUD, and no BGM. Absolutely beautiful and just simply relaxing.

If i'm racing a really boring race sometimes i'll just tune out and by the time i come to i've finished a reasonable portion of the race.
