So after browsing several forums, including this one, I've arrived at the conclusion I need assistance. I've been playing GT since PS 1 and played all of them. I bought a ps3 years ago just for GT 5 and was let down and made the switch to Forza 2 and stayed with the Forza franchise.

I've recently acquired a brand new 250 gb ps3, the ones with the new sliding tops to place in the disc. I bought GT 5 and entered upon the biggest headache I think this far.

The game freezes, lags, and refuses to install. After doing avid research my problem seems common placed. The installation stops at 25%. Period. Will not install at all. I full formatted removing all accounts and save files and did not do the update. Still nothing. I'm getting a new game disc tomorrow to attempt to see if that is the issue. I saved the receipt for the game and the ps3. If this does not work, both are gone. I'm soon to be 31 so I don't keep things that don't work lol.

Thank you in advance for any assistance. I was going to jail break it and install a firmware version but I noticed their is currently no rooting (jail break) software for my ps3 version.

I've also thus installed the new updates for the console and the game itself to see how it goes. It won't even load races now.

I would go back to the store and let them fix it. Tis stuff should work flawlessly right out of the box.

the best thing to do if this happens delete your Gt5 game data but not your save game and try again with the installation

Might be a defective copy of the game. Go to the store where you bought the game and replace it with a surely 100% working one.

It's the PS3 Super Slim. If you can get the original or the Regular Slim they work so much better.

Thank you everyone for the assistance. I'm trading back the game today and mentioned on the phone I want a new unopened copy. They happily replied yes after I mentioned the blemishes I found on the disc. If this doesn't work I'll look into the older slim model.

I have a Super Slim and have had it for about a year now, no problems at all. Been putting it through its paces, about 10 hours a day, every day and still runs as good as the day I bought it. The only thing I don't like about it is the cheesy door, but as GT5 hardly ever comes out of it, no problems with it.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the insides of both models are the same as far as tech specs go, they just re-designed the shell. I think it was on the official PS3 site.

I have the Super Slim PS3 myself for about 5 months already and never had any problems with it. In fact, it even ran On for about 7.5 hours one time. And in terms of power consumption, I guess it's better compared to it's older twins. It's maximum was only 70 watts for a game like FF XIII, unlike the slim and fat versions that have maximum of 100+, lol. Almost the same like an Xbox 360. Just saying an opinion about the PS3 Super Slim.

Now, BTT.
