Having trouble shifting with my wheel

Hey, I just bought a Mad Catz (shut up) MC2 wheel. The shifter works fine when I play with clutchless manual, but when I choose manual w/ clutch, the shifter doesn't work. I am pressing the clutch button and the HUD indicates that the clutch is open when I hold the left paddle, so the clutch is working. However when I shift the stick the driver's hand goes off the wheel into the console of the car, as though shifting, but I don't get a shift. The shifter just won't work. Anybody experienced this problem?
 
To give you more info I'm trying to use Wheel Layout 3 in the options. And the Mad Catz MC2 has an actual shifter on it, which I don't see in the options screen for Forza 4.
 
Ok, here's what happened, when I switched difficulties my shifter stopped working entirely =/ I restarted my xbox and it still isn't working.. if anyone knows anything I can try, please help.
 
Ok, I figured it out, looks like I just can't select Layout 3, it has to be Layout 1. I can deal. Sorry for spam
 
you started a thread and answered your own question lol and why oh why did you get a mad catz wheel
 
Yeah like I said sorry for spaz posts, I was working on the problem and updating the thread as I went. Which wheel do you recommend?
