Now that i have a LCD TV, do you think i can play GT4 in 1080p? I know there is an option in the game that lets you switch to 1080p, but i can't get it to work. I'll list down a few questions down here and some of them could be slightly off-topic. So i apologize for that

1. Is it that i need a Component AV Cable cable or was it intended to work only on the PS3?
2. How good would the graphics be if i used the Component AV Cable?
3. If i was using a Toshiba 20V300E LCD TV, is there any flaw that makes the game look "blocky" (or just not that sharp)
4. How would the game run on 1080p with the TV above?
5. Would other games have support 1080p automatically if i used the Component AV Cable?

Well thats all the questions that i have for now, once again i'm sorry if theres too many questions :indiff:

1. Is it that i need a Component AV Cable cable or was it intended to work only on the PS3?
Yes, you must use a component cable to use HD on the PS2. And KT is correct, it's 1080i.
2. How good would the graphics be if i used the Component AV Cable?
Well, it's pretty much the best quality you will get. I don't know how you define "good", but it most likely is as good as it gets with component cables.
3. If i was using a Toshiba 20V300E LCD TV, is there any flaw that makes the game look "blocky" (or just not that sharp)
Only a try will tell you that.
4. How would the game run on 1080p with the TV above?
That's down to trying as well, you might be better off with 480p. 1080i in GT4 does not reach the quality level of 1080i video material anyway.
5. Would other games have support 1080p automatically if i used the Component AV Cable?
No, the HD mode has to be implemented in the specific game. However, as far as I know, GT4 is the only game that supports 1080i on the PS2. There's no 1080p game at all, and no 720p games as well. The only thing I know are 480p modes in some games.

That Toshiba 20V300M is not a HDTV. High definition begins at a resolution of 1280x720. The Toshiba only supports a maximum of 800x600. Yes, it may accept a 1920x1080 signal but, it gets down converted to fit 800x600.

GT4 has a 1080i mode. That's 1920x1080 interlaced. The pixels are stretched and doubled to fit 1920x1080, since the PS2 can only output a maximum of 640x448. The 1080i mode in GT4 is not 'real HD'.

Oh i see guys, thanks for the replies anyways. So GT4 doesn't support 1080p but 1080i and that with my TV doesn't support a 16:9 screen resolution but a 4:3 screen resolution doesn't make the game look any better. If GT4 was played on a PS3, does the graphics improve or is just the same as a PS2?

Oh yeah, do you think PS3 games on 480p looks just as good as on 780/1080p? Is the screen ratio the only difference? Man i think its just a waste that my TV can't support HD :(
