HDD Corruption, how long to wait?

My PS3 crashed last night so I turned it off and let it sit until this morning. I turned it on and it has been doing a system restore for about an hour so far. It was stuck on 37% for about 30min and then it jumped to 48% and it's been stuck there for about 30min. About how long should I give it before it's time to just accept it needs to be fixed?

I'd rather let it fix itself and hopefully get my massive GT5 game data back than take it back to Best Buy (I have a 2 year protection plan on it) and let them fool with it.

I cant answer your question but have a suggestion.
If you have a friend with a slim you should install and do the restore on that system. From that system aswell, backup whatever saves you want.
Do not trust best buy with your saves. Actually, i believe they just replace it. So backup before you go there.

I had no way of backing it up, it's being replaced. I'll just have to start over......
