HDD problem with SCC

I don't know if anyone else has experienced or heard of this, but when I tried to play SCC today I got a message saying not enough space on the hdd 26mb needed. I've got a 250gb model with over 150gb free. I thought my save game might be corrupted as i downloaded it after my 60gb broke, but after deleting it got the same message. I've also deleted and reinstalled the updates but that didn't work either. Google does mention some hdd issues with 3.41 but only for people with hdd upgrades. Going to try reinstalling 3.41 to see if that helps, my other games seem unaffected its just SCC.
OK i've now tried reinstalling 3.41 but I still get the same message when trying to load SCC, I've also tried deleting the patches and downloaded them again after reinstalling 3.41 and still can't load SCC.
After the last attempt i deleted the patches again and started the game without them and it loads with no problem so the issue must be with the patches what I can't figure out is why it worked last week but not now.

If i remember correctly some persons had hdd issues with the new update.
i think sony released a new patch for this update. So i think you need to install it manually via a link.
I read tit on some game site. I now looked but didn't find it. Did you have other HDD problems since the update. Are some options missing in the system menu?
Google for problems with the patch, maybe it's that
 
Thanks for replying. I've tried re-doing the firmware update from my pc via psp but still nothing. I've also tried about 6 other games with no problems and everything on the XMB looks normal. The problem seems to be with the patches for SCC as the game works when unpatched and it creates a save file which will load ok, its only when i accept the V1.13 patch that i get the hdd not enough space message.
 
Some games get the free space wrong.
Solution: add or remove some data to/from your PS3 HDD, e.g. by downloading a demo.

Thanks drivatar that did the trick, just downloaded a demo and everything is working again. Not heard of this before and really appreciate the help.:)
 
That's an interesting one. So what caused the change then? Something had to change within the SCC stored data to make the problem. Maybe when it did an in-game autosave, it just went wrong?
 
I think it was the game reading the hdd free space incorrectly but only when there was a specific amount empty, I changed the space on the hdd and the problem went away. Does seem odd though but it would explain why the game would load without the patches.
 
this has happened to me a few times also , by deleting something like a game demo or video it clears it .
 
good to know it's that simple, in case it does that next time i start SCC
