Hello, i bought a HDMI cable today and hooked everything up, turned PS3 on and went to the display settings menu (using the old red, yellow, and white wire hook up) and changed it to HDMI and it says something about the screen will go blank then in 30 seconds if it returns to the same screen it is not hooked up correctly well ive tried many times and still the same result, faulty cable or am i missing a step?

You have both HDMI and the composite cable (red, yellow, white) hooked up at the same time? Unplug all the composite cable bits, and just leave the HDMI in. It handles both audio and video.

You need to go to the HDMI input on your TV. 💡 Then select Accept.

dude just unplug all the cables apart from HDMI then press and hold the power button on the PS3 until it bleeps twice and this sort all your problems out.

I think this man is right!

You are using the regular composite cables when you choose to switch to HDMI. At that time your TV input is on the input for composite cables. When your screen goes blank is when you need to have it the TV switched to the HDMI input.

I think you may be able to just start the PS3 by holding the button until it beeps with only the HDMI cable connected now.

I got mine today, just plug your HDMI in and remove the old lead.

Start up on the HDMI channel on your TV (mine switched to that channel on its own when i switch on) Your screen may now be blank, if so wait and in time itll come up that you have the HDMI do you want it to run through there etc etc. you can work it out from there, just be patient.
