HDMI lost Game Data. Any help please?

I recently brought an HDMI cable and installed it with relative ease and no problems at first but for some reason the games I have played before switching to HDMI are no longer recognized as saved game data any where. This is for all games I played beforehand including GT 5. However the trophy data/collection for these games are still evident and not missing but I can't resume a game in HDMI as the is no recollection of it so to 100% the trophies I would need to start again. Also I can't switch it back to standard definition to complete it on that side either for some reason. If it is a simple sync fix or something I would very much appreciate any help on the situation, thanks.

So you're saying you plugged and HDMI cable into the back of your PS3 and your games don't work? Could you be a bit clearer?

I think there was a fix when switching displays, I'm pretty sure you just had to hold down the start button until your PS3 appeared in your new display.

No not really, I did hold the start button and set it up with the new 'fix' between switching displays. The games still work but the same console which had the game data appears to have completely wiped it when on the HDMI format. Even the theme and background has not been saved. Not sure how to get my old game data to run along side the new data on the HDMI side.

Am trying to be clear about it mate but it has confused me and is very annoying as no one seems to be able to solve it everywhere I look or ask as well.

That's really strange, I remember when I switched from my SD to HD screen, nothing changed except for the resolution. I've never heard of anything like this to be completely honest.

Yeah, a lot of people have said the same thing. I have tried switching back to SD to get around it as well but to no avail, it is almost as if it never happened with only online trophy collections to show for it.

Are you sure you are on the same account? Sounds to me that you have created a new one. :P

Positive mate. Same account, same console. Just HDMI cable has changed. As I have said all my trophies are present just no old/saved game data.

How can a cable change your account settings

Take a look in the Settings section of the XMB and play around with that, or modify some settings in your account. Otherwise nothing should have changed by swapping the cables.

It honestly sounds like your having HDD problems. Take a look around the web for that and come back if it's still messed up.

The account settings are fine as far as I am aware really, can still go online under the same PSN ID and save new game data from games just not sure what I have done to effect the HDD all I have done is introduced the cable and all of a sudden stuff has been wiped. Shocker, I have looked round for both this problem and HDD already but nothing seems to be working or even the same problem. Tried everything on XMB to. Bit soft really I know but it is a pain in the arse as I don't want to have to start my games all over again in order to get the few remaining trophies or whatever to stick to the same account.

Think the only possible explination I can think of is that someone has been on my account and pressed 'Restore PS3 System' Don't know who or when but that would at the very least explain what has happened wouldn't it?

It seems to me that you messed up somewhere. Every time I go from SD to HD, it does it automatically. It would say something to the effect of, "HDMI cable detected, do you want to switch," and I would hit yes to make the switch. I only press the button to go from HD to SD.

Hold the power button when you turn it on until you hear a second beep. That resets the display.

As I say I think the system has been restored at some point without me knowing because other than that I don't know how it has been lost. I have tried all the usual stuff suggested so it must be that. Guess I am going to have to suck it up and crack on with doing the games again. Thanks for the advice though guys, much appreciated.
