Hello, i'm lookin into buyin some new headfones for listening pleasure. Right now, i'm using some cheap sony earbuds on my MP3 player. Better sound is always desirable so i'm lookin to buy better ones. Any recomendations? Now, i'm more interested in those ones that goes into your earhole. either those or the ones tha wrap behind ur head. I kinda want style too :)

Get the more expensive sony earbuds:

Ex-71 is the code of the product.

If you want really good sound quality, the best on the market the brand "Shure" is your thing.

They're ridiculously high in price since they range from $99 to $499 per set, but then you do know you have the best. Although I seriously doubt the slight improvement of quality justifies the price unless you're a real audiophile.

Solid Lifters
I bought these... Model 700DJ

You can buy them on sale at J & R.

You walk around with that outside the house? I doubt those things will fit in your ear like he requested. Maybe if you push hard it'll fit in your ears, but I doubt it'll be very comfortable.

hey I just got a pair of those for free for sighning up for some stupid text msg thing for my cell phone, it was free but they sent me those earbuds (exept white). are they worth much?

$75 canadian for the Sony EX-71... they're worth the money only if you can't afford the cost of the Shure E2c headphones. Also, don't buy plugs unless they're by a reputable brand and they look to have excellent build quality. If the plug is gigantic (like the koss phones), chances are, they won't sound very good.

That said, the headphones you buy should depend entirely on the environment you're in.

If it's a noisy place, get earplugs for sure. DJ cans work as well but I avoid them at all costs. They're terrible for creating an accurate representation of what you're hearing - particularly with the way dj cans tend to over-emphasize the treble and bass.

If you need noise to get in, i'd reccomend open air can-style headphones. Street style phones tend to have really ****ty quality 👎. Check the Grado sr60. These are undoubtedly THE BEST headphones on the market for under $100. Absolutely nothing comes close other than the Shure e2c's which cost $99.

Another option you have is a cmoy amplifier. These things are cheap as hell to build yourself and new ones can be bought on ebay for under $80. They're pretty compact and can fit into an altoids tin. The sound difference you'll get with a good amplifier is like night and day. They'll make even cheap headphones sound damn good. They do this by allowing the phones to utilize the full frequency spectrum better than the amp on your mp3 player will allow.

All of the headphones I mentioned minus the Sony EX-71 can be bought at www.headphone.com - easily the best place to buy your headphone related equipment 👍

I'm very impressed with those sony's. They block out all outside noise and are pretty comfy. Too bad I lost one of the small size earbuds somehow, and have a medium on one ear. Not as comfortable.

Yes.

I would like to add to this that any ear bud that costs less than 20 or 25 dollars probably will result in disappointing sound quality. Also I have been satisfied by any Sony head/earphones I have owned, even the cheaper ones sound quite good for their price. I like Philips as a brand, but their ear phones SUCK. (both ear buds and headphones, ear buds have bad quality sound output, 2 pairs of philips headphones broke on my head just by wearing them, it was $50 when I bought it, the 2nd replacement they gave me after a couple of months broke within weeks... so then I decided to get a sony mdr-v250 which is still attached to my computer :)).

Also avoid any type of ear buds which have foam coating on them, whether it's attached to it or comes as a removable piece... don't get those. First of all the hygiene problems can cause ear infections and besides that 9 out of 10 times they sound really crappy.

hmm, wow, lots of audio experts on this forum :dopey: i dont think i will go over $50 so maybe i'll just try those cheaper sony fontopia ones that goes into ur ear hole. Has anybdy used that bose headfone tahts like $150? i tried it out at an apple store on an ipod and i was quite impressed.

Check the Grado SR60 while you're at it. They can be had for $70 on headphone.com and probably cheaper if you look online. The drawback is that everyone around you will be able to hear what you're listening to and you'll hear everything around you. Sound on them is unbeatable though. Those $150 Bose headphones are nothing in comparison 👍

Not that you want this advice, but, unless you have to, I suggest not wearing headphones; bad for your ears. That said, enjoy whichever brand and model you get.

Yeah can't go wrong with sony.
My larger headphones for stereo and pc use are a pair of Sony MDR V500's

Sound quality on these is frankly ridiculous.

For use out and about with my creative touch zen I use these, good old Sony EX71's.

Had a pair of these for about 3 years, ran over them, washed em in the washing machine twice, and dropped them in a mug of cola, and they still worked :D. The last wash kinda killed them though, so I've just bought my self a new pair on the above link. They rock, and frankly kick the crap out of any other earbuds I've ever used, though I'm sure more expensive shure ones would be better.

True, but it would be a waste to go into your coffin with 2 perfectly well working ears. Use them well while you still can and enjoy your music. Just don't set the volume level to a deafening level. :dopey:

If you're on a budget then Philips makes some really good ones for $20. The quality is good and it has bass enhancer. They fold up into a little ball too. Awesome!

Koss rocks the headphone world.
But if your are truly serious, and ready to spend some bucks, Find some Sennheisers.

I have the EX-71SLs. Decent phone, about right for its price range. Good bass, though they are a bit weak on the highs. Bought them for about 33 USD on PCMall (through iPodlounge's member discount).
