You could probably hear her scream with excitement from a block a way when she opened up the December PHR mag and saw her car in there. We spent a couple hours driving around showing everyone. Really was inspiring to see after all the work we have done on the car. Even though we have taken a break on both cars for over 4-5 months and still have a LONG way to go, its still nice to get some ink in a mag.
Currently the car is all sanded and ready for the next coat of primer. It has all the headlights, fender extensions, and pretty much everything on the front and rear end including marker lights and tail lights. I will try to get some updated pics posted.
For those that dont know... This is what the car used to look like.

This pic is from her first car show we went to over the summer.

December Popular Hot Rodding Magazine. Hometown Hotrodding section. Here is a scan of the article. Yes the car still looks rough but we have come a long way and this is a budget build. You might have to click the pic a few times to see the full version.

That is very cool! Congrats to both of you! :)

That's great - you both must be chuffed at this after all your hard work 👍

Congrats 👍 you two must be proud of the effort you've put in.

Thats awesome, congrats to her on making it in there!

Only one of my cars has ever made it into a magazine, and that was my old Cavalier when I put it in the Autotrader.

Thank you everyone for all the positive feedback. Heather will see this and we really appreciate everything you say. It means a lot considering our cars aren't even finished yet. :) :)

Kickass man. Nice to see the Mustang is getting some good attention after the work that is being put into it. Congrats to yourself and Heather.

I believe I've said it before man - You Rock (And does yer cars) 👍

Congrats !... And I can't wait to see the final product !...

Nice, the car looks really cool, good job so far.

I can only imagine how it's going to look when it's finished.

You appreciate the car alot more when you've put alot of hard work in it.
(Same with my dad and the Suzuki in my avatar)

Congratulations you two, it's great to see hard work and lots of effort being recognised by a magazine. Heather's Mustang looks really mean now anyway, all it needs is the little details like grill and bumpers and stuff, heck, I'd drive it even with the primer paint!

Nice, I'm sure she'll be pleased

And even better is that you'll probably motivate lots of other people to do the same :)

Wow! A big congrats, as the only time I've been published is in the Police Blotter. I've been in a few other magazines, but usually only as a by product of the company I'm was working for.

In all reality, that is simply amazing. Now just have to question why she's with you... ;) Perhaps when she sells the coupe and upgrades to the fastback, she'll upgrade to Boyfriend 2.0?

Just kidding. Congrats!

(I'm kidding about the police blotter)

Awesome, dude! I can't wait to see the final product.

Good luck with the rest of the build! 👍

Uh oh Camaro. Looks like she's after a Fastback too. Will this be a race of who can build Eleanor first?:sly:

Congrats to you and her.👍

Congrats to you and Heather! I'm going to check out this as soon as I can. That's awesome you two got in national magazine, how did you do it?

Congrats anyway!

Wow, congratulations to Heather. 👍

I can already see a magazine cover for the pair of vehicles when they're finished, with a title stating "Labor of Love". :) Keep up the fantastic work.

Congrats!

It shows you really are putting effort into the car if it's mentioned in a magazine. Keep it up! Maybe your Camaro will be next to be mentioned... ;)

Thank you everone for all the positive replies. I will try to get some more recent pics of the Mustang up very soon with most of the front end parts on. 👍
No I am not the fat guy in that pic. He looks like he is about 50 and who knows what he is doing with his hand in his pocket looking at Heather.
This is what we look like.

Well, if you don't find this offensive Adam, you can't blame the guy ;)

No I don't find it offensive. I have been with her almost 4 years so I have seen and heard it all. You can only image the attention we get when she drives her own car into a car show. Then when people find out she did almost all the work they just cant believe it. Its going to be insane when we actually get a 67 Fastback and built it into Eleanor. :sly:
Next year we will be taking both cars to as many car shows and road track events as possible. Stay tuned next year should be very fun.

Sweet car dude!

Well done the magazine article - you deserve it. I much prefer to see and read about cars that have been built by their owners. Anyone can drive their car into a shop and lay the dough down... It's great that you two do your own work, and even better that Heather is keen to get in there and get her hands dirty. 👍

Keep it up dude! And Heather too! 👍

Yeah, I can't wait to see what you guys create out of the '67. You'll have to also compare the price when the car is finished so we can compare it to the GT500E available now (depending on your power input).

BTW, I suggest e-mailing UP and find out how they acquire their '67s and what they do to them if you haven't already.

Great work, is it enjoyable is the most important question though?

My dad spent about 5 years working for a company who modified cars for a whole variety of reasons. One of my fondest stories was of a old, battered, on it's deathbed, etc AC Cobra, a man with one leg bought it and wanted them to rebuild it and modify it for his needs.

The funniest stories were when they were reinforcing some tanks (Army base about 15 miles west) and of course being military vehicles they had an armed guard on site, the guard missed one of his call in slots and the base was surrounded quite quickly with all kinds of Army vehicles, my Dad was working on the project and found it funny, don't think they did though.

That last bit my be unbelievable but it is true. 30 years ago though.
