Just say i am knew to the board, and have been doing some browsing and i have noticed a couple of things.

It seems to me that a lot of you guys are pretty amazing at GT3, especially how a lot of you can get all golds on the licenses - I personally have 46 bronzes and 2 silvers! I am just gonna ask how on earth can you be so good, and how much time do you spend. I remember i got all golds on the B license in GT2 and it took me about 2 months :).

I myself am not crap at Gran Turismo. I completed GT2 too 100%, and i am at 96.9% of GT3 done with only the F1 championship and the Time Trials too be done. And i always thrash my mates whenever i play them and they love GT as well.

Its just that a lot of you guys just seem to be at another level.

You seem to be under the impression that it's easy for us to get those gold licenses... it's not. ;) I got all golds for IA (because I wanted another Vanquish, and it was British Racing Green too!!! :D), and it was no walk in the park... took me several weekends to get it. I was ready to kill the person who set the gold lap time for IA-1 (the Lancer at Tokyo).

To get all gold is not easy to say the least but it is possible. I have done it twice now and I'm currently on my fourth restart of GT3 and I already have 28 golds.

A helpful hint is to save your GT3 license attempts with the save because starting it over from scratch wastes the "warm tire" build up. Most people don't know that as you get a quicker time in your attempts, your tires will warm up and your car runs quicker.

Oh, to make it more clear, the save must happen at the license test itself. Your save is different from your "Game Save" so make sure you don't copy it over your regular game save. Each license test save must be different from each other as well. It takes up 41kb of space.

I hope that helps you get some golds! BTW, welcome to GTPlanet!:D

p.s. On the last, #8, test for the S-License my best time is 1:26:707! To get the gold it's 1:31:000, soo golds are VERY possible!

Wow, Lifters, not a bad time, I wish you have a Sharkport or some way of recording your replay so everyone can see how you do it.
Also, I'm curious as to how you came to the conclusion that there's a warm tire effect in license tests. Because my understanding is that the system completely resets the car before every test, from odometer, to oil, to tires...

You are right Kideng, I'm not really sure it it's "tire warm up" , but my ample experience tells me something IS happening to make the car go faster when you get a quicker time. In my opion I just think it's the tires warming up.

BTW, it is saved on my memory card so if you really must see it I can make a VHS copy for you if you want to give me your address? I can run it up against the demo and you can see me waste his ass!:p

I dont bother iwth golds... i just like to race so i get mostly bronzes.

It just come down to whats most important to you :)

Ahh, the gold trophies on the license exams. Probably the ultimate test of your GT tenacity. I scored all gold on the b license in GT2 and never had the patience to get the A. I am on my second turn of GT3 and have 16 golds, got the B and the A. I believe someone said perserverence and that is the truth the more seat time you get the better you will do. I ve been into GT since the beginning, and will enjoy every installment as they come. I love the track carryover and there is always a couple of new ones. I could run Grand Valley and SS5 in my sleep.

Getting golds is, IMO, the hardest challenge of GT3, which is probably why it is not required for 100.0%. I took the time (8 hours, total) to get all golds on the b-license before I started in order to get the Miata LS. All but B8 were fairly easy. The a-license is also not that bad, just takes practice. ib and ia are a level up. Those take lots of time and effort. Copying the demo and racing your ghost is the best way to get gold. The most frustrating thing is getting close and then falling into a slump of bad times. r-license is a completely different story. I need more rally practice to get that. The s-license, as of now, seems nearly impossible to me. IDK, I think the times require some drifting technique or racing lines that I usually wouldn't race. Plus, there are so many places to make mistakes. I've managed only one s-license silver so far. I'll keep trying though...I remember thinking ib and ia were impossible and I got those after a while. It is truly about perserverence .

welcome to GTP:D I agree I never got all gold on any GT game game. It just takes to long, and I like racing to much to spend hours on end try to get gold licenses. I'm on my 2nd run though the game, and at 86%. Right now I'm playing GTA Vice City, but when I start playing GT3 again I think I might try to get at least the A&B tests gold.

Obviously Solid Lifters...;)

I have only got all golds on B, almost there on A, I think A7 is just the one that I can't seem to get gold on...it's hard. :irked:

I think the word is... perseverance.
Anyway, Lifter, do you have a replay of all your best times for licenses? And if so, do you feel like recording them all onto a tape so I can record them into mpeg's? Then finally, are you up to the task of writing an article on getting gold on licenses in GT3? PM me if interested.

Cheers for the replys people. Though i never stated i would want to try for all golds, the thought of that makes me feel dizzy. I am just gonna concentrate on getting golds in the time trials, which i heard aren't easy.

Yea, the Complex String.... :banghead:
Took me about ten tries before i got that time trial right. The worst is when u know you are doing good, and u make a mistake at the last chicane, and ruin your whole lap. If u hate time trials, and license tests, get a gameshark and put in the low time cheat where the timer never goes beyond 2 seconds.
