:banghead: Whenever I try to drift, in any car that I have set up from gtvault, even, all my car does is slide out or into the grass, mud, etc. Could anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I watch the replays over and over, but I can't figure it out!!
Help would be MUCH appriciated.

people think drifting is easy when most of them can't even keep the car on the road during a grip race... learn to race and then slowly ease into drifting... start by just losing traction and just keep adding to it...

:D :D read the big word in my sigand i also understand u just need practice
try a FD with sims and thats it or what my boss said about the s13 :D

Wow, that's genius, exaust note! no, seriously, that's a vary good idea.
THANK YOU, TOO! I gotta lay off the caps.

Just buy an S13, put on sims, and PRACTICE. It won't just magically happen. It takes lots of practice and understanding.
Agreed. ;)

Well, you said everything I wanted to say. You often beat me to it, so I just agree. ;)

getting to know the tracks in gt3 is the biggest factor when picking lines. i dont mean to insult your intel, but before drfting ensues, its best to know the track in regular driving (endurance races ) after several hours of handjamming around the circut youll know best; the course limitations, and your cars potential.

it is kind of odd on my side of the story. it seems like I am the odd man out when it comes to the better GTP drifters because I didn't follow the conventional methods. I didn't know how to race(grip) as much as I "should have", I didn't really know how to tune cars or their suspension, and I don't really condone using sims for drifting. most better drifters tell newbies to use sims and learn how to grip race before you try sliding around. that is weird because my whole life is centered around going against the grain and it even follows me unconsiously(sp?). my advice to learn how to drift is find your own way to do it and with practice, everything else will fall into place OVER TIME. stay cool.

rock. :)

WORD, its weird, i learned how to become a better grip racer after i learned how to drift, i think its the fact that u have to learn the lines for drifting and thats what helps alot when ur gripping too

how about showing us wat u mean... if u made a short clip of u flying off into the grass... we might be able to tell u what ur doing wrong... but other than that... practice... juss keep driving eventually u'll get better if u dont... then quit...

if u can control and keep the car on the track at high speeds... it will be more comfortable to control the car at lower speeds as in drifting...

Most likely the reason your flying off the track is because: Your entering a turn too fast and slide right off the track, Or you just let the car slide off by lifting off the gas.. If your going too fast, its simple, just slow down. But if ur not sliding off because of speed then u have to learn to countersteer and control the gas pedal very lightly to keep the car turning. If u don't use the throttle you will end up sliding in the direction ur weight is pulling you in.

These conclusions are being drawn from my newbie mistakes, I hope they help a tiny bit :)

I completely agree. The most common mistake is just taking too much speed into the drift. try taking smaller corners slow, and work your way up, if need be. ;)

Welcome to GTP!!

Speed into a corner is very important, but not so much as important as knowing your car, what it's going to do, and how to make it slide throught the line you want.

The settings in GTvault.com are ok at best.....I've used them on occasion for grip-racing, but I'm not so anxious to try the drift settings there. Try the Drift Settings Depot. How are you setting up your car? If you could provide us with your settings, and a small vid clip, I'm positive you'd get the help you need.

Good luck!!

Not everyone RECONS the GT3 tracks Devil Dog. LMAO:lol: ;)

Seriously though, db, just do as has been mentioned already, take a lower powered car, slap on some sims or even superslicks with more horsepower and have at it. Spinning is part of the developement phase.;)

Well, I don't have a vid card or whatever it is, I'm doing a bit better, :D with all the tips I got here!;) I'm doing the S13 with sims, and combining what I know about it's drift techniques, with alllllll these tips, to get lots better!:p Thank you all for the tips!

Hm, I do agree with the people that have said learning to grip first is important before venturing off to drifting. I also do believe that drifting is somewhat of an extension of grip. Maybe even an off-shoot (I dunno, whatever). It definetely helps with the lines you take if you have knowledge of the track and your choice of car's limits. Of course there are exceptions to the rule. Oh, and practicing quite diligently wouldn't hurt.;) Anyways, good luck on your drifting, db.
