hello all,
love the board, so much useful info. just a few questions that maybe alot of you can help me with.

I've been playing around with drifting since GT3 but never got the hang of it. started playing again when GT4 came out and learned to take my time trying different techniques and other settings.

Basically I'm not completely sure if I'm really drifting or not. I mean in essence it looks as though I am since I'm cornering early, letting the rear slide out slightly and counter-steering to maintain the line and controlling the accel/braking to regain grip but sometimes i get the feeling like its just a powerslide.

Another thing is that I've been playing with the Super Close tranny alot and most of the time it feels as though im just initiating a drift on the fact that my wheels burn out after I've braked for the turn and I think they're spinning because of the power of the car and not because of proper weight transfer.

Right now I'm using a Supra RZ at 379 hp with Economy tires and all driving aids off. A Super Close Transmission and a 1-way LSD. other than that all the other settings are stock. I did refresh the body and get up to the level two weight reduction.

Any tips would be very helpful as I'm new to this.

hello again to everyone on the board and happy drifting!

if you went here.. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=55757

then you'll see the drifting guide provided by tank spanker. it's a very useful guide that should answer your questions.

I personally would start with a lower HP car, like a miata or an AE86 and learn drifting with car control before you jump into a machine with more horsepower and turbo and stuff. I'm slowly learning on a miata right now and i've been practicing on autumn ring mini and deep forest. Bsure to check the drift settings depot for car settings suggested by others in this forum.
