Im having a really hard time going up against race cars like TEAM oreca Viper, Calsonic Skyline, and etc in the GT World Championship in Amateur mode.

Im using a fully tuned (using fumes setup) R34 V spec II, 1060 hp, everything and i cant beat these guys in courses like apricot and laguna.

acceleration wise I can beat them but when it comes to turns they just destroy me. The viper seems to be like a super car for it has great acceleration AND takes the ideal line everytime it turns. by lap 3/4 I am way behind the viper, hanging with the lower division cars like calsonic and etc.

I am not that of a lousy driver but im not all that great either. Do you think I need a new car to go up against these guys? Im having a hard time controlling the 1000 hp R34, but without such power, i cant even hang with these guys.

is it time for a new car? if so, what should i use?

I have a stock r400 and stock altezza LM sitting in my garage, do you think those two will be better to use than my skyline.

i forgot to mention that im on sports tires. will switching tires make things a whole lot better? thanks in advance.

I think your problem is the weight of the R34 even with stage 3 reduction. I suggest a lighter car with a bit less... momentum :P Also, try using super slicks, with a bit of practice they're ever so good as any other tire once you're past lap 3 or so, and you won't have to pit in a 10 lap race. If you can, win the Pro MR and get yourself a ZZII, stage 2 turbo it to 956 hp, it'll destroy the viper and it's nice little green headlights.

changing tyres will make a big difference

i bought a viper done it up for speed, and raced in "like the wind" in pro mode and won the mazda 787B
with that you wouldnt have any problem.
you would have to have the special licence

I think you should just get another car that can compete with them. There is no possible way to win on the straightaways because the stock R34 can't stick in the corners as well as those race-modified R34's and other race-modified cars as well. Like vinkento said, try to get a ZZII and then you might be able to keep up with the competition :) If not, just save up enough money to get a new car or just use prize cars from the endurance races :)

Here'a a great idea: run the Super Speedway Endurance and race any of the cars you win from that endurance. Of course, you should be in first place to obtain the prize cars :D

in the writeups you will find that i did it easy with a stock altezza LM...
good cornering is esential, but it is dead easy :)

Or you can do that :D

Use that Altezza LM! It is a great car even with a higher horsepower figure...when racing a race car, try to use a race car...;)

And the Altezza LM is still a good handling car (at least for me, it was a beauty) at over 900 bhp. :)

That's your problem right there.

I haven't raced on anything harder than T2 Super Slicks since about the Beginner FR series. Tires are absolutely the best place you can spend money, and the second thing you should do to any car, after the virgin oil change.

Try T3s or T4s in shorter races where tire wear is on. T4s should last 5 laps and you won't believe the difference you'll have in cornering traction.

Hope this helps, and welcome to GTPlanet!
