I am wondering if anyone that drifts with dualshock controllers have a video that I could download and view for self-improvment purposes....

I'm having problems maintaining long drifts and counter-steering smoothly with the dualshock analog controllers....

:D I hope it helps. if it doesnt tell me. I will record with the gas and brake

hEy.
You can check out my video...Its all analog, but i dont think it will help u much since it doesnt have the steering or gas/brake displays. If it doesnt help...just think of it as an inspiration or something.

For dualshock, I changed mine a little so that it felt a little better to me...

R2 - Gas
L2 - Brakes
Right analog stick
up - shift up
down - shift down

Why did I do this? So I could do "left foot braking", and also access gas at the same time I'm shifting... this works for me anyways...

Just practice, the standard layout is fine, its just a pain to hit gas and brake at the same time for me... and I'm trying to learn manual and shifting with analog feels a little better to me.

oooo! tasadar brings up a good point

do you people use manual or auto? cuase I've been using nothing but auto all this time......think it would be easier for me to drift in auto with the dualshock?

I use both analog sticks when I play. Left and right steering are the same as normal, gas is up on the right analog, and brake is down on the right analog. I think it gives you better throttle control.

i just use the default layout. the pressure sensitive buttons are good enough for me and throttle control. but i can see how the sticks would offer more control, if you are used to them.

I tried that, but I like the ability to brake and gas at the same time...

That's what I use, and it works great............... It helps you have very precise throttle, and countersteer control.......

;)

try to learn in auto first, then when u are able to control it, use manual.

learning on automatic was GT1 for me, then a bit through GT1 i figured out that its much better to shift on your own in almost all circumstances so thats what i do now.

I use the official GT4 wheel, with manual gears and the gear stick.
I've tried GT3 with the 900 degree turning radius, but it reduces force to half, making drifting a bit harder. Otherwise, it's almost like the real thing.

I thought the 900 degrees turning radius is only software enabled? b/c I heard on this forum that since GT3 doesn't have 900 degree support, the wheel will not enable it...

Yeah GT3 doesn't support it, that's why force doesn't work correctly when 900 degree radius is manually enabled. (Select+L3+other L3)

i used to drift dual shock till i got my wheel, try going into options and making ur gas and brake the right analog stick and steer with left stick of course. this will give you better brake/throttle control. helped me dramatically

I'm brand new here and was browsing through the boards, had to look at this one because I don't have the logitech wheel and plan on using the control itself. -- But I have to know, I really like that sound that's in this video. I'm gonna keep looking for it on my own for as long as I'm online this morning but in case I'm still banging my head against a wall like right now: :banghead: Can you tell me the song name and artist?

 Oops. I'm not quite sure how that happened. I hit "Submit" but had a last minute change of mind and hit "Preview" first to see how it came out and I guess the server submitted it the first time anyway and then again when I actually previewed it and said okay. I'd delete it but I don't see a "delete this post" option.

You "newbies" are too fearfull of getting flamed.

Don't worry about it dude. It happens to me alot..It's even worse when you mispell words.;)

Me? Scared of being attacked for a little mistake like that? No, no. I wouldn't wanna hang out a message board where people are that touchy. I just figured I'd post an explanation for it. Saying that I did see what happened and I didn't quite understand why it happened is all. -- But there should be a delete post option. Am I not seeing it? Or is that option just not available on these boards?

Now if I could just get the answer to my question. I am dying to know what that song is! And if he could send it to me somehow! I was hoping maybe he would have checked back by now but sigh, no luck. Guess I'm gonna keep dying to know.
