Hello everyone

Need some help to tune a NASCAR for an 80 laps online race!

Pit strategies to save tire and fuel are also welcome! :)

Wait responses! Thanks a lot.

Race Settings:
80 laps;
Tire wear and Fuel ON;
Draft: weak;

Important: I'm using a controller, not a wheel.

Use the same setup, max downforce, add -toe and draft as much as possible, using the least amount of gas pedal input you can.

Aero 20-70
toe approximatly -0.05 / -0.30

to save fuel draft draft draft... run with your pedal half way in the corners and 3/4 if possible in the straight but be sure to not loose the draft. Try to pit aound lap 28 and lap 55-56... save fuel and don't go on front in the first 2 relay so putting less fuel in the last pit stop will put you in front of the race... try to have a partner with the same strategie

Is it possible to drive 40laps on one set tyres? You must know I haven't done a single Nascar race since the update.

The good old 50laps races.....

It is possible to save fuel and tyres just by changing your driving style. If you can, try and stay in 2nd for the majority of the race and stay on the bumper of the driver in front of you. Because you reduce air resistance of your car and less throttle is needed to go faster as a result, you will save much more fuel and tyres than the driver in front. 1st place will need to pit sooner than you, but it will be likely you can get a few more laps before needing to change.

If you can do about 6-9 more laps on the same set of tyres, then try and increase the time gap between you and 2nd place before pitting. It will give you the maximum amount of time to change your tyres and refuel before getting back onto the track again.

When you say "same setup" what does it mean?

I don't have any initial setup and racing alone I've got 42.XXX times...

Do you have the complete setup (including the remaining suspension adjustments, LSD and gear ratios)? Could you please share it?

Thanks for the help!!!

I think he assumed that you already had a setup dedicated to NASCAR racing, not the stock setup that comes with the NASCAR when you first buy it.

It's usually best to play around with the settings as each driver has a different driving style. His complete setup might suit him, but there's no guarantee it will suit you in the same way.

Also, in the future, please use the edit button as an alternative to double posting. Many members and moderators on GTP despise of double posting.

I don't believe so. I'd say 35 is a safe assumption on hard tires. Give or take 2 laps, based on how well you can conserve.

If you don't have any initial setup, then you're not using GTP to it's full potential. Whatever setup you end up with, my original post still applies.

OK. Thanks for tips. I'll continue training and exploring GTP library.

Keep you informed to discuss specific points that can be improving my performance.

I'll try this. Thanks.

Yesterday I've tried Killerjimbag and XxCANExX setups from tunning database and they did well!!!

My best lap until now is 42.0 (using controller, don`t like to stay close to the wall), but my car is not fully powered (892 HP) yet.

Hope to improve it once the car get more HP.

If you are looking for speed aero 20/40 and suspension height 15/15

Why is better to use the highest possible vehicle height? It shouldn't be the inverse?

I also see some guys using F+15 and R-15. Am I crazy or NASCAR cars usually are the inverse of this (nose down and tail up)?

+15/-15 you'll spin out. You want both ends of the car on the ground. But at 235mph there's a lot of force on the car and it seems that you have to be in positive ride heights to not bottom out. The rear, you don't want to force the spoiler into the air, that's more resistance and on a track like this, you want the least amount of resistance possible, while still having enough downforce/grip to take corners.

Updated lap time: 41.75

LSD 60/60/60
Toe & camber all 0.0

Tire Wear: 12 laps soft, 16 laps medium, 21 laps hard.

Any other tips to improve lap time an increase tire wear?
